I don't get it with Norton

I've just bought 1 years subscription for Norton 360 Deluxe via bought product key and download yesterday and it is already annoying me. The first thing that annoys me is Norton Smart Scan. When I first added Norton to my computer(s) a Smart scan was automatically started on each device and ended with a warning of 8 drivers needed updating and asking me to pay more money for a subscription so that all my drivers would automatically be kept up to date. I looked at what drivers needed updating and checked manually if they did need updating. Every one of them did not need updating so where Norton got their information from I do not know. It seems like a con trying to make me part from more money. The next day (today) when I booted up each computer for the first time it automatically did a Smart Scan and again at the end the driver update con came up.

I need to disable this Smart Scan or at least stop it asking me to subscribe to other services I do not need. How can I do this?

Another thing that is annoying me is the VPN. Every time I boot up I have to physically open Norton to enable VPN. Is there a way to keep it enabled or at least for it to automatically enable when I boot up my computer(s)

Note: I'm not seeing Smart Scan auto-run.
After a Norton 360 product update/patch.  Norton may prompt user to run Smart Scan.
Hopefully, your machine/s will settle down after a day or two.
