Any conflict between Norton identity safe and Zone Alarm' firewall?

I would like to know whether ZA has any conflict with Norton Identity Safe within Norton AV.  I get a few blue screen recently, and get no idea on what wrong it is.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :>

Hi,

If you do not quit Zone Alarm, (Firewall), as soon as possible then the BSOD's will multiply and be much more frequent.

Hope this helps,

Do you have any suggestions on what cause BSOD?

Thank you very much for any suggestions :>

From the BSOD message displayed, its clear that there is a conflict between your ZA Firewall (vsdatant.sys) and network protocol / stack (tcpip.sys). I roughly assume that you are using Windows XP. Is it right? Correct me if wrong.

Please try these suggestions:

  • As mentioned by Apostolos , have you tried uninstalling your ZA Firewall and checked if it rectifies the problem?
  • Your Firewall is of older version. The latest version is 130.208.000. Please uninstall the currently installed product and see if there is any BSOD for a few days. Else install the updated version of ZA Firewall.
  • Since the BSOD is also related to the network system files, you may have to reinstall the network drivers (especially the Ethernet driver), if possible use the latest supported drivers.
  • Are you behind a router? (the sample log says there was an attempt from 192.168.0.100, which would be probably your IP address if behind the Router)
  • If you are using the AV module of ZA,please switch it OFF immediately as 2 AVs co-existing in a system in realtime mode can cause chaos.
  • If you're using win XP, i recommend you to upgrade your OS to Win 7 or 8, as there will be less compactable drivers in WinXP.
  • I don't think ZA has any conflict with Norton Identity Safe, unless you have the donot track feature of ZA turned on. (both have some similar functions, may be)
  • Form a message link you have given in logs, I suggest you to Add nst.exe process of Norton Identity Safe to ZA Exclusion list, or turn the application control / monitoring of ZA to minimum level (OFF) or Manual (where you will be asked permission to do system changes via a pop-up on right bottom corner by ZA). Either ways donot keep it in 'Auto' mode.

Please visit the thread Conflicting Product - ZoneAlarm Pro

Eventhough the topic subject deals with ZA Pro. not ZA FW, messages 2, 3, 5  tells somethings common to your system regarding ZA and why you are asked to uninstall ZA . (Thanks to the authors of those threads)

Keep us posted.....
