Identity safe changed my password on its own

Maybe it's just a fluke, but one of my passwords in ID Safe mysteriously changed. I kept trying to log in to my mailbox, then went into "edit logins" and found that my PW had been changed to something like "12345xxx67890". I'm using the latest version of NIS on win7 64. Anybody seen this before? I changed the PW back to what it should be, and no one has been near my computer.

Thanks!

Re: Identity safe changed my password on its own

Welcome,

Interesting problem. Have you gone through your mail program configuration to be sure that there have been no changes there? I'm thinking maybe in the security question responses.

The bad guys/gals [I'm an equal opportunity offender] are always finding new ways to do nasty things. The web based email services are always being tested because there's so much information there.

I do not recommend keeping an address book online with any one of them. Too many bad things have already happend to nice people who have done this. My recommendation is to use an email client like thunderbird or one ofthe other free clients and keep your address book behind your Norton firewall.

Keep us in the loop. We'll be here when you need us.

Re: Identity safe changed my password on its own

My email PW never changed. The only thing that changed was the PW in ID safe. My email is from my ISP. It's POP3 when I use Windows Live, but the ISP has an html webmail page that I breeze by from time to time. It's just really strange that only the ID safe password got changed, and not the actual password to access the mail.

No clue then.

Do/did you use that password at anytime for any site? [grasping for straws]

Thanks

No, I would never use something as lame as 12345xxx67890.

I didn't think so but I did have to ask.

Just eliminates another possible way that the password could have been changed.

I'll keep thinking, hope one of the real expeerts stops in with help for both of us.

Googling 12345xxx67890 shows that this has happened to one or two others!

All of the relevant returns I get in a Google search reference this thread.

Hi Drechsier,

Could you provide the exact URL in which you are facing the issue?

Thanks,

Senthil.

Re: Identity safe changed my password on its own

Hi Drechsler,

We have tried  to  reproduce the issue from our side with latest build(NIS 2012 19.7.0.9), but it seems it works fine(Password didn't change in edit login).

Can you try deleting the login and re creating the login again and check the issue again.

Thanks,

Senthil.

Re: Identity safe changed my password on its own

Senthil, it was just a one time occurance. I mainly wanted to know if my one time problem was a known issue or not. Thanks for looking into this on my behalf. Hopefully, as I stated in the OP, it was just a fluke.

Re: Identity safe changed my password on its own

Hi Drechsler,

In IDsafe Login password will not change any time unti we change it manually. We didn't see one time occurance in any of the logins which is stored in Identity safe->Edit logins. Report back  to us if you face any issue like this in future.

Thanks,

Senthil
