User UNTRUSTED file

Hello!

I would suggest a new button to be added called "Untrusted files" or "Files I suspect to be malicious".

You can add this in the File Insight window (Norton Insight) where people can manually say this file is trusted or untrusted . The cloud could get this information and share it among all Norton users.

In addition to malware submissions to Symantec Securiry Response , this would be a good option to exchange opinions about malicious file / newly discovered threats

Re: User UNTRUSTED file

Good idea, thanks for submitting. If you see closely there is a "Trust Now" option, where you can mark a file as "User Trusted" so we currently give the users the option to trust a file. We have been thinking about allowing the user to mark a file as malicious too. If the user marks the file as malicious then an action needs to be taken, i.e remove it from the system, quarantine it etc. that's where things get trickier and more risky for the user. This is definitely something we want to investigate further.

You can add a button "Quarantine"  so even if this file is not malicious and needs to be restored, the user can get it back.

Re: User UNTRUSTED file

This is a very good idea, this way the file can be analyzed by members of the norton community before it is deleted.

Re: User UNTRUSTED file

This is a nice idea. I believe it would be a great idea to also have an option to submit the file itself to Symantec so they can easily analyze it.

User presses submit file button -> Norton checks the file is not already known (on white/black list) -> if not it sends the file to norton analysts -> they analyse the file and put it on either white or black list -> everybody wins

If I remember correctly Comodo Firewall had/has an option to submit files directly to them. This worked quite well for me, but of course I cannot speak on the way of others.

Re: User UNTRUSTED file

I like this, it can make Norton cloud become more trust.

But I think Trust Now should also become cloud.

Re: User UNTRUSTED file

This is a very good Idea , symantec must cooperate and entering this information into the File reputation
