Another long time Symantec user and NRA member says goodbye

I have been a Symantec user for more years than I can remember and on several computers I own or have owned.  I have been a Symantec user longer than I have been an NRA member.  I didn't even know that Symantec offered an NRA discount but then again I did not join the NRA for the discounts.  However, since Symantec chose to mix politics with business...never a good idea...and brought this to my attention I am happy to choose another protection platform.  I just cancelled my Auto Renew subscription that would have renewed in April and has been in place for years and without hesitation.  I never thought of looking elsewhere for my protection solution.  Thank you Symantec for forcing me to take a look at the other fine solutions out there.

Re: Another long time Symantec user and NRA member says goodbye

I also am very disappointed in Symantec's venture into the Political arena in an area that is outside of their expertise. I have not used an NRA benefit to buy my subscription since I was unaware there was one. Norton probably did not have may that did use the benefit, and the cost they have incurred by publicly siding as they did is probably a loss they will not forget. I recently (today) discovered this move and am forced to re-evaluate my association with this mediocre company. I will not be renewing my subscription in September and will either move to Avast, Kapersky or McAffe for my anti-virus provider.

Symantec, this is brought on by your delving into "Feel Good" politics, to alienate your company to a group of people who have not violated any laws. I do not see your trying to address drunk drivers, back yard pools or opioid drugs that kill more people than guns.

If by chance you are ready to re-evalutate your stance on the 2nd  Amendment, then I and other gun owners may reconsider our purchases.

Hey you can say whatever you want. It's the first and second amendment that allows you to do so. No worries about an NRA member doing something crazy. There has been only one NRA member ever involved in a mass shooting and he was the one that stopped the bad guy. Thanks for the farewell wishes. Glad to be gone.

'Hook, line, and sinker' ...

"mass shooting" ... It's interesting how you 'qualify' that.

First, understand  that I was shooting and hunting at a very early age ... as soon as I could HOLD a gun.  I was taught how to hunt as a true "Woodsman" ... not just kill.  We hunted for subsistence ... for food, NOT SPORT.  The so-called 'Hunters' of today have no respect for Nature, and the NRA is nothing more than a money-making organization to bolster Arms Sales, as Weapons and Weapons Systems comprise about 20% of the US GDP.  I know more than a little bit about that, too.

So, if I were you and I was SINCERE about your 2nd Amendment Right to Bear Arms (in the advent that your Government needs to be overthrown) I suggest that you TRAIN with an established, legitimate, and organized Militia.  If you're going to play "Soldier" there are more responsible ways to do it.

Well Mr True Woodsman, it is so typical of people like yourself to go off half cocked making assumptions about others. You know nothing about me, my expertise, if I hunt or what sports I engage in. My only point was that it's not NRA members doing the mass shootings we find in the news. I could not care less about your opinion. I only care that you are allowed to voice it. Hmmm, wait your not an NRA member are you? Gee I sure hope you would not consider doing, dare I say, crazy! NRA members have proven to not do so. How dare you imply they would. See ya.

Again (left unaddressed in your Reply); You 'qualified' your argument by saying "mass shootings" ... weak.

But to your last assertion (or insult  lol):  As a matter of fact, I was a Lifetime Member as a child.  I have Served my Country and have also worked for the DoD for half of my career.  I'm retired now, so my contributions to keeping people SAFE has taken other avenues.  From my experience, the VAST majority of folks that have a death-grip on their guns shouldn't have one in the first place.  Enjoy your "Freedom" to kill with a twitch of your finger ...  Toodles !  :-)

And from the level of your discussion you are still a child. Sad.

OK.  You've had 'your say', hot-shot.  Is there anything else you'd wish to contribute?

You know, it's really kind of pathetic how people HANG ON to 'Social Sites' after raising hell and screaming "GOODBYE, FOREVER!!!" ... but then that never happens.  Queer, isn't it?  - Art

Naw, it takes a lot more than an amature troll to get me excited. You should really spend you time in retirement doing something more important than trolling the internet. Life is too short man.

You've no idea.  Yes, Life IS short ... too short for those on the wrong end of a gun.  I'm not the Patron Saint of Lost Causes anymore.  Go with God, or just plain go.

BTW, have you heard the latest News about the NRA and it's ties to Puttin?  No?  That's queer.  At any rate, YOU GO, YOU PATRIOT !

Re: Another long time Symantec user and NRA member says goodbye

Veiw24g, I feel for you man!  This guy "Art" is obviously trolling. My opinion is...  well guess it really doesnt matter ....

I posted about my disappointment about a company's chosen path in business and he goes on spouting derogatory comments about guns, gun owners and the NRA. He complains about the NRA, but yet says he was a life member. Well, if he paid for life membership, then he is still a member.... "just saying"....

I only came back to this forum because my email was getting blown up with notifications about the posts being made. I had no other interest in Norton's past this. Actually I had a faint hope there was a message from them that they were reversing their policy, but alas that is not the case. After this post I will be setting up the filter on my email to delete these messages, and you wont be seeing me here again.

Veiw24g and others with the same views, Good job and keep up the good fight! Our rights may depend on it, don't become a sheep.....

Pissing Contest over.  I'm sure you have other places to assert the Rights and Freedoms that you have fought so hard for ... well posted for, at least.  Buh-Bye !

Oh, and by the way ... I'm not a Troll.  You JUMPED in the boat !
