I have sent you a private message regarding the investigation of the issue

Hi, so many forum questions end in a classic Norton response:

"I have sent you a private message regarding the investigation of the issue"

After this Norton response, all these threads basically die. It doesn't really help others to understand how issues are solved. The main purpose of any forum is to share knowledge, and this is exactly what what you are preventing. In the future, can you share solutions provided to customers?

Great question! I have thought the same exact thing for the last 5 or so years every time I’ve read that response from Norton. How are we supposed to learn?

Most of the time when we are sending a private message it’s to get more details about their specific issue and get details of their account. If you are experiencing the same problem you should say so.

I guess you're missing the point. Any forum is not only about asking questions publicly, but also providing solutions publicly. Not sharing solutions means that Norton is forcing other customers with similar issues to unnecessary ask for support and wait for answers. This way, this Norton forum is less effective. That can't hardly be an objective of Norton.

I'll appreciate it if you'll discuss this in your support team.

Kind regards,

Hans.

Re: I have sent you a private message regarding the investigation of the issue

I agree that a forum is a good place to share problems and solutions to those problems. I see what you mean, even if it's specific to that individual, you would like to understand what was the solution. If the solution is one that makes sense for everyone we should share. If it's only specific to that user we could perhaps say what was done to allow that user to move forward.
