What exactly am I paying a $130 or so a year for

NORTON,

What exactly am I paying a $130 or so a year for. Everything you are suggesting should, in my opinion, be included in the price of my subscription for the money I’m spending. Your scare tactics have convinced me to seek out another security service as I feel yours’ has become nothing but a money grab. I don’t think I’m alone in my thinking as most computers now come with MacAfee virus protection installed.

I’ve been a long term, 20+ years, user of your software but this year will most likely be my last. I’ve discontinued my auto renewal and when me service ends in March of ’23  I’m done.

You can see what is included in the purchase price here. Scroll down to the Compare Plans to see what is included.   https://us.norton.com/products/norton-360-deluxe?inid=nortoncom_nav_nort...

What you are seeing/reporting is the constant promotion popups for other Norton products and services that others are reporting here. These have been baked into the product by the marketing department, who seem to be running the company now.

The McAfee you see on many new computers is going to be a trial version. You will still have to pay the current price to continue using it.

Good luck with your final choice. We have seen reports that some other vendors are doing the same thing now. It's all about the $$$$.

Re: What exactly am I paying a $130 or so a year for

My own take on all of this is that I am willing to pay for an antivirus and security program to prevent malware on my machine. I really do not want to pay for other software like anti-track, utilities, identity theft, etc. as I do not find them as useful as others may find them to be.

I do use the VPN and think it has some value for me so when I add it all up I decide on a price point and take it from there. And you are probably better off not auto renewing as Peter can tell you. You pay more for the convenience and time saved.

And other companies as Peter mentioned are using very similar tactics to increase their bottom line but that is what business is all about.

I have the Auto Subscription Renewal turned off on all my subscriptions. But I still received an invoice for renewal of a Norton product subscription for A$500! All efforts of mine have failed to contact Norton to have the invoice cancelled and reversed, so I will dispute the transaction with my card issuer. Norton make it very hard (read, impossible) to resolve any issues with my account. They have lost me as a customer.

As bjm_ has suggested, check the email sender against the list in the link given. This sounds like a scam email that is prevalent these days The scammer sends out batches of these emails hoping they will find someone to contact them from phone numbers in the email. Then they try to get the user to give their banking information so they can "refund the money". But in fact, no money was ever taken, and they are now going to take money from the account.

These scammers have no way to know if you even have a Norton product. I have received a few of these reporting to be from McAfee, and I have never had a McAfee product on any of my devices.

There is nothing Norton, or anyone can do to stop scammers from sending emails to you. So you should not be trying to blame them for what you are seeing.
