I am confused about sharing the Norton 360 protection with a link or QR code. If I am sharing a link and that person downloads the application do they need to use my account credentials on their system or do they set up an account for themselves at that point? 

#2. If they use my account credentials on Norton 360, does that also grant them access to my Lifelock account?

#3. Do all the accounts share the same cloud storage location?

Somebody, please clear this up for me.

Answer to number 3 is that the cloud storage is shared by all devices activated on a subscription. The backups are stored in the account of the master account holder. They cannot be stored in another Norton Account that might have been set up to use Norton Password Manager.

For Number 2, if you share your account credentials, it would give them access to all details stored in your account. Do not do this.

1) the link provides a pre-activated product downloader/installer.  You do not need to share you Norton account credentials.   They may setup a Norton account to use with their Norton Password Manager.  Anyone may setup a Norton account.  Norton account setup is free.  Norton Password Manager is free.  Your Norton account is your Norton account.  You do not need to share your Norton account credentials.  You maintain control over who uses the available seats with your subscription license. 

3) Interesting question.  I'd not thought about.  All installs share available cloud storage quantity.  If they use cloud backup.   Lets ask @peterweb for thoughts. 

Share the download link to install Norton

You can send an email message with the download link to install the Norton product on your additional devices. You can also send the download link through text message, or copy the download link to share it later.

The download link is valid only for 14 days. So, you must download the product within 14 days from the date you received the email or text message. If the download link expires, you have to resend it.

SHARE THE DOWNLOAD LINK

  1. Sign in to your account.

  2. In the My Norton page, click Download.

  3. In the page that appears, click Send a Download Link.

  4. In the Protect another device page, do one of the following:

    • Email: Type the email address in the text box.

    • Text: Select a country and type the mobile number to send the download link as a text message.

    • Copy Link: Copy the download link to share later.

  5. Click the send or copy button.

INSTALL NORTON ON THE DEVICE

  1. Open the email or text message from the device on which you want to install Norton.

    If you do not find the email in your Inbox, check your spam folder. The emails sent by Norton are legitimate and are not spams. For more information, read How do I know if the email I received from Norton is legitimate?

  2. Click/tap the download link.

  3. In the page that appears, click/tap Agree & Download.

  4. Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

I imagine the pre-activated downloader/installer Signs In the user.  But, if the user subsequently Signs Out.  They'd need Norton account credentials to manage their backups.  
I need to Sign In to Restore Files, Delete Backup Sets, View Backup Sets Online...to manage my backups. 
Maybe, OP needs to advise users...to not Sign Out.  I imagine.

I'd like some help with running backups on machines with shared licences.   It seems to be prompting the other users for my (the owners) account credentials to run a backup set.    This doesn't sound right - how can their backups be set to run without needing the account owner password please.

Currently, as we see it, there does not appear to be a way to share the cloud backup storage without sharing your account details. And you are right that this does not sound right, or secure. I suggest that when this feature was added, they assumed that all devices covered on a subscription would be in the same household. In that case it would be no issue for the account owner to go to each device and activate the backup storage.

You will have to wait to see if my escalation of this thread gets any official reply.
