Alienware Control Center Display001VcpSrv.exe Quarantined

Alienware Control Center (AWCC) was updated automatically. I did not initiate the update, I only confirmed I wanted the app to make changes. After my system rebooted, Norton 360 for Windows informed me that "Display001VcpSrv.exe" had been removed.

Norton's Security History shows the following screens:

Details copied to clipboard:

I am not sure if I should let Norton remove it or try to reinstall it and stop Norton from removing it. As of right now, I do not know what the consequences will be using AWCC without the "Display001VcpSrv.exe" file.

Thank you for your time,

Re: Alienware Control Center Display001VcpSrv.exe Quarantined

Has anyone figured this out yet?  The same thing happened to me.  Same file name.  Alienware Command Center attempted to install an update yesterday, and Norton blocked the "Display001VcpSrv.exe" executable that AWCC.exe (the main process) was trying to install.  I downloaded the update from Dell directly after that, and the installation package from Dell's website has the right file hash.  Was this a false positive, or was Dell hacked, or was it something else?  Does anyone know?

Yes same happened to me. Looks like another scenario where Norton insight is removing a file because it’s too new. Still waiting for a response from Norton. I can also confirm the new Alienware command center is not working properly.

Re: Alienware Control Center Display001VcpSrv.exe Quarantined

Dell is aware of their control center issue as discussed here. It appears there may have been a conflict with Dell GameEye that was causing issues, maybe a false flag in A/V detection based on those reasons.
