norton360 - didn't find virus/trojan but other antivirus did.

i got a file from someone that seems to be safe by norton and also windows antivirus, but when i did a scan online (from other site)just to be sure that the file is really safe, they found that the file contain ** Trojan:MSIL/Kryptik.AAU!MTB ** something that Norton should finds and make an alert

if i was opening it , my pc will be infected and i couldn't know that.

i know that isn't possible to make 100% protection, but i guess more updates?

Re: norton360 - didn't find virus/trojan but other antivirus did.

What software did you use to find the virus?

Was the file you received a zip file?

You never opened the file via Norton?

Did you download the file from a website?

Re: norton360 - didn't find virus/trojan but other antivirus did.

As you mentioned, no security software can catch 100% of the tens of thousands of new malware and variants released every day. Many here will use the free Malwarebytes as a second opinion scanner that can catch some things that Norton does not focus on, such as PUPs.

If you had run the file, the other layers of Norton protection that look for malware behaviour would have detected that it was malware.
