Norton blocking IE

hi, unfortunately i have just had to remove Norton security off this computer as no one could get past the Norton firewall which blocked everything and i couldn't even inform Norton themselves. i hope that the program writers will look into this as it began as a slowing down and malfunctioning which i did system restore for until a few days ago when windows told me IE couldn't connect it was being managed by Norton firewall and virtually rendered my computer useless. i have read others having similar issues previously when i used an alternative computer but there was no way to sort the fault out. i am disappointed as the program had worked well to this point. i hope someone listens and sorts the program glitch out. Welcome to the Norton Community Forum

What was the version of Norton Security that you had installed? What O/S and SP and Bit? Do you have any other real time security programs installed now? What was your previous security program and how was it removed? Did you  go over your settings in Norton Security before you uninstalled it. Did you run live update a few times after you installed the program and reboot as needed? Sorry for all the questions, but we do need some relevant information. Thanks.

Hi, version was Internet security2013 bought from a reputable source that replaced a previous version that I took care uninstalling first.my computer is two years old runs windows 8 and ran program successfully for nine months. I ran scans regularly and checked updates. I had no other  similar programs installed at same time and I now running windows security. The computer ran well up to time glitches stared and is back to normal now. Thanks for interest Jengee

Hi, Jengee. Have you tried rebooting your computer ? In Windows 8, Norton requires it be properly shut down to correctly update.

Also, turning the Fast Start option off may help,too.
