Rules didn't work on kids Android phones

Hi, the rules I applied seems to work. After a while I and my wife have a feeling something goes bad because our kids pass too much time with their Android phones. If I check the rules on phones, they seem to be applied correctly. As soon as I force them from phone, the rules begin to work fine again. Could you help me to understand best way to use your product and troubleshoot the issue? Thanks a lot.

Hi Alessag,

You said "the rules begin to work fine again".  I assume you are referring to the time restrictions started working fine (other rules work fine?)

Do you happen to know what apps the child was using when the allowed time is up and he/she is still able to continue to stay on the phone?

Thanks

Katie

Main question and my doubt is: have devices to always connected to internet?

Re: Rules didn't work on kids Android phones

Hi Alessag,

Can you please provide the following information:

1. Manufacturer of the Android device

2. Please check the below settings on the child's device:

  1. Settings -> Data Usage -> Norton Family. Check if the “Restrict background data” is selected, if so unselect this option.
  2. Settings -> Battery -> Detail -> Norton Family, set the Norton family app is “Turned Off ” for Automatically optimizing mode.

If you can't find the option, please disable both these power saving modes in ‘Battery and storage’ – Smart Power Saving Mode, Ultra-long Standby Mode

After disabling them, launch NF app and check if blocking works fine.

Thanks

Katie

Re: Rules didn't work on kids Android phones

Hello,

For your question - "Main question and my doubt is: have devices to always connected to internet?":

The device needs access to the internet to download the latest house rules that you may have updated in the Norton Family web site. Once the house rules are synchronized, policies such as time settings will continue to work even if the device is offline. Of course, for new policies to have effect the device needs to be connected again.

Thanks
