"Disk Optimization" has trashed my laptop, how do I sue them?

This pile of dog pooh suddenly decided to frag my hard disk.  I didn't ask it to.  I don't want it to. It's been running for TWELVE HOURS.  I assume my disk is now totally trashed.  The "software" is completely unresponsive and gives no sort of progress indication.  Norton "Customer Support" is nowhere to be found - when they say "24/7 support" I guess that means it takes 247 hours before they can be bothered to reply to the pleas of the poor idiots who shell out good money for this over priced, incompetent pile of droppings.

Question: how do I sue these idiots for the price of my laptop??

Norton "Customer Support" is nowhere to be found -

Chat with Official Norton Support  -or- Call Official Norton Support

granted, Support may not be 24/7 your location.

Disable 'Disk Optimization' under Task Scheduling and disable 'Idle Time Optimizer' under Administrative Settings.
1) Settings > Task Scheduling > uncheck Disk Optimization > Apply.
2) Settings > Administrative Settings > Idle Time Optimizer > Off > Apply.

I tried the 'chat' - nobody there!

Thanks for the info on how to stop it but I fear the disk is now hopelessly trashed by their 'disk optimisation'.

Managed to get a response on Twitter (never used it before - the depths Norton drag us down to...) but it's a 'get back to you one day' effort.

Norton does not defrag/optimize.
Norton calls Windows defrag/optimize.

Norton merely invokes Windows defragger cause it does not have its own. Therefore Norton did not mess up your computer

@andygegg:

Sorry for the trouble caused. Yet, you can DISABLE the option Disk Optimization under the Automatic Tasks:

More, to remove unneeded data effectively, you may run CCleaner & Disk Cleanup time to time and, consider cleaning up those system files.

Please post back if this or any other comment solves your problem. THX...
