Galaxy Apps

This post is for an app called Galaxy Apps, for Galaxy tablets. I have the Galaxy Tab E. When I run Norton Mobile it says the app sends a list of all my installed apps, & it indicates this is a high risk. Normally I haven't seen any app that does this, not even the Google Playstore app. I can't uninstall this app, & I can't disable this app either (the option's grayed out). It's a system app. Does anyone have any advice on this, maybe a way to disable or uninstall this app.

Re: Galaxy Apps

Have you done this already? If this is a default app bundled into your device from a provider more than likely it cannot be removed but can be disabled.

  • Locate then tap the app name (e.g., Cloud). If system apps aren't visible, tap the Menu icon (upper-right) > Show system apps.
  • Tap FORCE STOP.
  • To confirm, tap FORCE STOP.
  • Tap DISABLE.
  • To confirm, tap DISABLE.

Re: Galaxy Apps

In reply to SoulAsylum:

The name of the app is Galaxy Apps, not Cloud. This is what it's called in the list of apps in Android's main menu too. There is no Cloud app. Even after I select "Show System Apps", the one called Cloud doesn't appear. When I select Galaxy Apps in the apps list in Android's main menu, the Disabled button is grayed out(even after I tap the Force Stop button). I can not disable the app. Do you have any other solutions?

P.S. I forgot to mention that I already did all this even after I uninstalled all the updates too, so please don't send a reply saying I need to uninstall the updates. Thank you.

Re: Galaxy Apps

CRAIG Those are apps that CANNOT be removed or disabled due to the restrictions on them by the provider you have the phone tied to. I have the same issue on my Galaxy Note 4 from Verizon.

Re: Galaxy Apps

Manufacturers like to send telemetry data on their devices. This helps them to detect problems and possibly gather data on device and app usage to help them provide a better user experience.

I'm guessing you are referring to the Privacy section of the main Norton Mobile Security page. This notice is based on the permissions requested by an app, and information Norton has gained from its own telemetry from Norton users with that app. It is up to the individual user if they trust that developer, and are willing to accept what the app developer is requesting.

In this app's case, it does not sound like any personally identifiable information is shared, so the actual 'danger' is probably small.

If you trust Samsung to do the right thing with this telemetry, you can Trust the app in your Norton to remove it from the warning on the main page.

As noted above, this is a system app, it usually cannot be disabled. Just stopped as suggested above.

Re: Galaxy Apps

I want to say thank you to both SoulAsylum & peterweb for both of your answers.  I wish I could mark both of your answers as answers that cleared my solution.  Unfortunately, I can only choose one.  Sorry for getting a bit short with you, SoulAsylum.

Re: Galaxy Apps

You are welcome Craig.

It's not about who gets the solved flag. We just want to find a solution for the user.
