Mobile phone, Android, Virus warning on google browser

On one of my family Android cell phone (Samsung S7) we got a 'Google your browser is heavily damaged by (4) Virus.' It just popped up when we were going to a link (URL) 'www . scrabblewordfinder . org'. The warning wanted us to click on a 'Repair Now' icon, we did NOT. There was a URL (www . viyisekikulezu28 . bid) that was associated somehow. We check the phone with our loaded Norton Mobile Security (NMS), NMS said the phone was good, ok, NO viruses. We ignored the warning and noted the site. Since that time we have gone back to the  URL www . scrabblewordfinder . org and the warning came up again, but then went on to the site. So it does not always come up, huh. Just a big surprise to us. We are being more aware of the attacks on our cell phones.

Re: Mobile phone, Android, Virus warning on google browser

This happened to me as well today when I was visiting weather.com to view today's forecast. As long as you don't visit the link they provide, you should be fine. These type of pop-ups and website redirections use scare tactics to try and get you to download malicious software and/or steal personal information.

This is another reason why I feel more comfortable about having Norton installed as their app would certainly let you know if something this dire was really affecting your device.

This type of pop up is often caused by a malformed ad on a site you are visiting. Try adding an ad blocker app to your browser. That helps on PC's.
