Norton right-click context menu missing

Windows 10. For some weeks/months, I no longer have a "Norton Security" option in windows explorer context menu after right-clicking on a file or folder. Chat had suggested I reinstall Norton, no improvement. Chat today remote controlled, had no suggestion except call Norton. Called, they had no suggestion. A different win 10 machine has the menu. (I can successfully scan a single file or folder by going into the settings and creating a Custom Scan, but that's less convenient.) Suggestions??

Re: Norton right-click context menu missing

Do both computers have the exact same Windows version? What Windows version is on the problem device?

Re: Norton right-click context menu missing

Appreciate your always-rapid responses. I would like to report how I solved it, so hopefully you can point others in the right direction for similar problems. Using nirsoft's shellexview, I found that all my non-microsoft extensions (including some Norton) had been "Disabled" (surely not by me ;) ). In the registry I could see that they were all in hklm/windows/software/microsoft/currentversion/shell extensions/Blocked. Using that prog, I reenabled them, and presto. As a benefit, having multiple browser windows open and right-clicking is much faster, presumably because something isn't looking for a non-active extension.

I suspect I had done that previously trying to fix right-click problems, and never reenabled them. Alternatively, conceivable that malware somehow did it. Interesting that uninstalling using NRnR and reinstalling Norton didn't remove the shell extensions from the Blocked registry entry...

In any case, I'm disappointed in Norton's support, in that chat sent me to phone Core support, who had no suggestions whatsoever and basically said "good luck."

No software install is going to look for registry entries that are not standard to that software's installation. It would seem that the Windows blocked setting overrides any software's settings.
