Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Just found out that Symantec has business relationships with NRA. Although I have been using their product for many years, I will consider an alternative internet security product as my subscription expires.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I did not know of Norton's position as a proponent of denial of my 2nd amendment rights. I own multiple copies of Norton Security across my little fleet of devices. Because of this anti-rights stance, I wont be renewing. To the original poster, thanks for posting this so I know of Norton's anti-rights political position. To Norton, you have made a mistake. I hope that you never need the right to defend yourself, especially from an oppressive government.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Hello than1111 Actually the usage terms of service agreement doesn't allow for using the forums as a political front. Its not about anyone's rights its an binding agreement we all must abide by. https://community.norton.com/en/legal Admins will more than likely either lock the topics or remove them altogether for those reasons. Have a great day.

Cheers

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

with respect, this is not necessary “political”. It is a discussion on Norton taking a public anti-NRA stand making national news. Being pro-NRA and 2A is not restricted to any one political party.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I am now waiting for a quote from a Norton competitor to replace my subscription to Norton.  I currently have over 200 days left in my subscription for Norton Security Deluxe and their WiFi privacy product.  I am looking at Bit Defender Total Security with their own VPN or the Nord VPN.  They are all competitively priced and I can demand my pro-rated refund from Norton.  I had not been looking but now they shoved the door open.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Not welcome. I am a stock holder and a hell of a lot more than one f-ing share too. But, I have already sent the sell order into Schwab so I will not be able to say the same on Monday evening. And from what I have read on other decent websites, I am not the only to be selling symantec stock, or other small minded corporate stocks.

NRA only has about 6-7K actual paying members, but multiply that number by approx. 4.5 and you have now included the families of NRA members and then there are the millions who own guns in the USA. Word gets out, and words can hurt big corporate giants.

Besides, there are many other software programs just as good, some maybe better than the norton product I have. But when it is time to renew.....will not be the yellow colored Norton.

Will symantec start cutting any discounts they offer to federal workers? FBI blew it and kids died How about Sheriff departments? The sheriff department blew it and also hires cowards......Gotta be fair.

Sill want to know why there are hardly any women on the executive board? I believe that looks like they don't like women.

Last I'll post since even coming to this site and listening to all the cowardly liberals makes me sick.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Not the only one leaving. When Symantec turns against Americans, it time for everyone to leave the company. Sad day for my fav protection company.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I too was unaware of Norton being anti-NRA (and therefore anti-2A) until I saw it on the news today. What they hoped to accomplish by doing this, and the inference that NRA members are somehow connected to the horrible school mass shooting is beyond me. I have been a long time Norton user however I decided to give McAfee a try since it was pre-installed on a new PC. It seems to work just as good as Norton.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Well said. One correction though....NRA has close to 5 million members. Word is already getting out. My advice.... if you own sell Symantec stock, sell quick.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Whatever the number, with family members and the estimated 55 million gun owning families, this could cost some serious money. And I believe gun owners are more serious than the snowflakes hiding in mom's basement. And, gun owners work, snowflakes don't.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

What is the best Security Product to use now that Symantec cut ties with the NRA. Hard to know where to go ...I have been using Norton Products for at least the last 15 Years lol. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Hi Sorry I am here to ask Advice on what other good products are out there besides Norton. It isn't political it is just natural that if the company wants to start making it political ...which they did...a ton of Real citizens will leave them. They knew this would happen and I am here to ask others where they plan to go after they uninstall all Symantec products like me my family and friends are doing. I really don't know what the best options are out there since I have been with Norton on all my personal and business equipment for the past 15 years and hoped some one smarter than I on this forum had some insight.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

No support for NRA equates to no support from me. I will be cancelling my Norton subscription and switching service. From a firm supporter of 2nd amendment rights.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Dear NRA Members,

Please go and justify the killing of innocent Americans elsewhere.

Just because you are indoctrinated to gun-ideology over the American way of life.... that's your problem, not ours.

Kaspersky, the Russian antivirus is more appropriate for all of you.

Bye bye..

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I want to commend Symantec-Norton for divorcing the anti-American NRA.

I want to recommend Kaspersky to each and every one of them.

Goodbye comrades.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Check the return policies, if it's been less then 60 days you could get your money back.  Hopefully I can get mine back.  Norton made this political by following the idiots.  Frank V you have an opinion but you are misinformed.  You might have a mental problems like the school shooter, idiot dimm!

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

McAfee inferior protection?  I beg to differ... Wonder why it outscored Norton in PCMag’s URL blocking test? Oh, and just in case you are wondering, the test was conducted prior to this horrible tragedy.

Do not blame the NRA, but instead you may want to take a look at the Broward County's Sheriff's office, which was in charge of security, the FBI, who did not follow up on a rather solid tip concerning a post made by this individual, the caregivers,  and possibly the school administrators themselves, who one year earlier (before expelling him), forbid this individual from wearing a backpack to school!  How many red flags do we need!

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I want to thank and commend Symantec for making the absolutely correct decision to cut ties with the National Redneck Association.  This decision is on the right side of history.  Symantec joins other right-minded corporations in rejecting the senseless killing of Americans.   The NRA and its feeble-minded supporters should find their own island and all go and shoot each other.  The national cumulative IQ would benefit.  Thank you.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Frank V -> Thanks for boldly illustrating the hypocrisy of the left.  In a different thread on this forum, an "intellectual" liberal accused all conservatives of being intolerant, uninformed name-callers, and explained how a civilized liberal would never act in such a way.  However, as we all know, far-left  individuals like yourself are indeed what they accuse everyone else of being.

When you have to stoop to name calling and stereotyping your ignorance is on display, and you have lost the argument.  The world is a complex place.  Not everyone fits into the nice little buckets your weak mind needs to have in place to make sense of things.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Hey taco I’m just saying Norton should be protecting our computers and other electronic devices not telling me to give up my 2nd amendment! I’ve been with Norton for years you’ve been with them for 4 weeks! And also it’s easy calling people names when you don’t look at them in the eyes so you also must be a coward!

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Currently I use Norton Deluxe and I also use their Wi-fi privacy VPN (Virtual Privacy Network).  Next week I will be switching to BitDefender Total 2018 which is actually better rated and more feature robust.  They even have a small free VPN.  That VPN is more of a taste of what could be since it is highly throttled.  They offer a premium version that is good and priced right.  The Norton Wi-fi Privacy also only covers mobile devices and most other VPN offerings cover both mobile and regular computers.  With the varied discounts out there the price is the same or better with Defender.  I am also considering Nord VPN which offers more robust protection.  All VPNs slow down the internet connection so I am still researching how many servers, ISP addresses they each have.  BitDefender sells direct and also has re-sellers who can be found through their website.  I will work the best deal with BitDefender or their re-seller that I can.  I am still getting my ducks in order here on alternatives so I have not approached Symantec about refund for the balance of my subscription (200 days).  I am pretty good at negotiating so given how this all went down I think I can convince them for the prorated rebate.  I did consider McAfee, but research indicated they were not as highly rated for a comprehensive protection. In addition, the tech support department at my wife's very large workplace uses McAfee but has stated they are changing to another due to problems slipping through (I have not yet heard what service they will use).  My personal use is contracted for up to five devices.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Been using McAfee on one computer and Norton on another for nearly a year. Don’t have a need for VPN so can’t comment on that but in every other aspect McAfee has performed as good as Norton. I was thinking about moving all computers over to McAfee even before Norton make their ignorant decision to take a public stand against the NRA and 2A. Those that stay with Norton probably don’t need virus (or gun) protection. They have their safe places they can go to.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I'm waiting for a reliable response from the other companies to make sure that they are not considering the same move as Norton did before switching to them.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I will miss Norton when my contract expires, but I won't support any company that opposes me.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Rabid idiots who support NRA. I can tell you are a well informed intelligent person. Liberals are so intelligent and intellectual when supporting their own views, but when confronted with an opposing view they dumb down to name calling.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Thank you taco. You are obviously a well informed highly intellectual spokesperson for the anti-2A (that means anti-second amendment) left.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

NRA says me gustan los camiones tacos

But occasionally taco truck drivers are involved in DUI hit and run crashes. Should we righteously  commit to a hate campaign against the The National Food Truck Association (NFTA) for the actions of a few individuals that may not even be members of NFTA?   Pretty much my illustration here is ridiculous.  Like frank5  says "That bunch of rabid idiots is a detriment to our great nation."

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I have been a client of Norton for decades.
I have also been a Life Member of the NRA for decades.
The NRA is over 5 million strong. We have choices.
Symantec's PUBLIC, political statement about dropping the NRA was a very Stupid move.
I am shopping for Norton's replacement NOW.
McAfee is looking pretty good!

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

McAfee is working well on my new computer. BitDefender good to from what I have read. However be careful of what you read as most “reviewers” seem to have their own favorites and some inherent bias. From my perspective McAfee is just as good as Norton. No better. No worse. Gets the job done. Similar pricing. P.S. to the moderator: this is a post on a “solution to a problem”. The problem being Norton chose to take s public stance against the NRA and therefore against the 2A. This recommended “solution” is certainly more relevant on this forum than “what are you watching/listening to now?” Or UFO’s IMHO.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Frank V --- no need to thank us, I will do it for you.  To all of the people posting on this forum that are part of the millions of law abiding gun owners and NRA members, thank you very much for helping to protect our freedom and the right to free speech.  The same right that gives contributors like Frank V a platform to spew his hate speech.  Frank V, you are very welcome --- feel FREE to hate away.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Another recommended “solution” to this “problem”.... NRA supporters please post a link to this post on your various social media platforms and other forums. The comments madd here pretty much speak for themselves. I don’t do FB but will be posting this on Glock Talk.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Periodically, good companies 'clean things up' with their business partnerships, and also with their clientele.

Symantec continues to be a market-leading product and is now demonstrating the corporate wisdom to clean up its relationships.

Symantec is throwing out the garbage.

This is addition by subtraction.

Goodbye garbage.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

That's the Status of my firm's Symantec renewal.  Their backwards, left wing influenced, decision to sever ties with the Patriotic NRA is a Deal-Breaker.  We'll see the other Internet Security companies stock shoot up, while Symantec's stock tanks.

Too Bad !!

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Wish I had known Symantic was an anti-NRA political party. Can I get my subscription money back? I'm a disabled Vet on a fixed income & can't afford to just cancel my account without a refund. Contact me at my Email address on how to get a refund from Symantic. Very disappointed in their anti-NRA stance!

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

USEFULL IDIOT!

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Awww, poor Frank V appears to have been triggered.  Please don't take it out on your gerbil.  If you had any sense in your fecal matter filled head you would donate money to the NRA

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Have been using Symantec Norton antivirus for many many years, I've also been a member of the NRA for many many years as well. you know, it's all about PROTECTION right? Well, It seems that Symantec has taken sides and showed their true colors, as is their right, I also have rights as well and have decided that when my current subscription runs out I will NOT be renewing any Symantec software, EVER! I am true to my words.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Norton made it a political discussion. As a retired LEO firearms instructor, who's training was certified through the NRA, I find Symantec/Norton actions and stance unexceptionable and will no longer be using or recommending this product to anyone. I had been with McAfee for many years and was giving Norton a chance...but Norton not the NRA blew it....so you can take your political garbage and program and leave.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I was told on a chat line that Symantec/Norton was reconsidering their anti NRA position and was offered 50% off of my subscription. I turned down their offer and now have McAfee protection. For the record, I don't believe it when told they are reconsidering.

Proud supporter of the NRA and defender of the 2nd Amendment.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Yes, Symantec has sided with the people.

Symantec has had an influx of new customers who are attracted to responsible corporate governance.

A good and solid decision was made.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Uh oh, Intel, parent company of McAfee has rejected any sort of relationship with the NRA.

It's Kaspersky for all you NRA comrades.

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Symantec made a great decision to get rid of the NRA

Bye

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I wonder if those in this thread saying goodbye to NRA supporters realize that this reduces the profit of Symantec.  Earning profit is the singular legal obligation to their shareholders. Symantec is a fortune 500 company which is publicly traded.  Their Veritas Technology subsidiary was sold off  to the Carlyle Group about two years ago.  Without profit the business does not exist.  The greater the business profits the more earned by each shareholder and the greater the potential reinvestment opportunities that exist.  Clearing out customers is the antithesis of what companies strive to do.  NASDAQSYMC

Who pulled your chain Frankie... it wasn't me. My reply was sent to the moderator, question is how did you come to have access to it? Are you the moderator? Are you an employee of Norton? If you are you show another example of why someone needs to leave Norton. If not, crawl back under your little rock because it appears that your intellectual abilities do not go high enough to allow you the ability to respond in an adult manner with adult language.  So bye, bye

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

I was on msn tonight reading some storys about different news and I clicked on the story about the adoptive parents of this nick cruz the kid in florida who decided to go out and kill kids at the school there, ive used Norton antivirus and the identity protection for a very long time and tonight it caught and blocked this new virus [gen48] that has been online for about a week now, I'm very disappointed with msn for not having any better security for their web sites, it mascarades as a adobe flash player update and if you don't get off the page it will crash your computer, Norton stopped it cold. I don't agree with Symantec on their nra choices but I do know we all need to protect our 2nd amendment rights and our constitution from all enemys foreign and domestic .

Re: Symantec has business relationship with NRA

Just for the record, I love the National Food Truck Association.

Symantec offers them a nice discount as they are fine citizens and good people.

And that is the difference between right and wrong, good and bad, righteous and evil.

The NRA has been exorcized from the good, morally upstanding, and progressive Symantec Corp.

That is all.

Frank
