Email Error - "mail server rejected the sender"

Hi All,

I've scanned the forums without success - have been getting an annoying popup from Norton Antispam - currently using Norton Security. This error appears when attempting to send outbound emails.

Email Error:

Your email message was unable to be sent because your mail server rejected the sender. I have verified that the username and password for my IMAP account is correct, have checked all other settings and the only way to remove the error was to uncheck the email protection in Network.

I'm on Windows 10, Office 365 with desktop clients.

Many thanks in advance from a very long-term Norton user,

Barry.

Re: Email Error - "mail server rejected the sender"

DrBazUK Looking at your attachment I have to ask the silly question. Is there a recipient for an outgoing message when this appears? The screenshot shows empty sender and recipient fields. Additionally Norton does NOT support IMAP accounts within the anti-spam portion of the program. Also from Microsoft!!

Cheers

Re: Email Error - "mail server rejected the sender"

Hi SoulAsylum,

Been emailing for >30 years...  but I blanked out the sender and recipient email addresses in the screen grab for privacy reasons but both were valid addresses and operated by me... (different email addresses.)

I've been using Norton to secure this PC for several years, gone through multiple changes of NIS/NS/NIS Pro etc. but have only noticed this popup blocking outgoing emails for a few weeks now. I tend to send outbound emails from my outlook on my iPad or other devices and so this hadn't cropped up as a major issue but it would be nice to be able to send emails from Outlook 365 without having to disable email protection entirely.

I may have erroneously attributed this to Norton Antispam - it seemed to be the most appropriate tag...

Thanks again for taking a look and offering some advice - it didn't perfectly address the problem but at least I take some comfort in knowing that Norton and Office don't always play nicely together.
