norton app lock no longer lists "google" in apps available to be locked

I have been allowing my children to use my phone but I just found that the "google app" is no longer blocked by Norton App Lock.  The main reason is because "google" is no longer listed as an app on the norton screen where you can choose the apps to block.

My husband's phone is still at Android 7.0 and the "google app" is blocked.

My phone recently updated to Android 7.1.1

Re: norton app lock no longer lists "google" in apps available to be locked

I just checked my Samsung tablet on Android 7.1.1 I still see the Google app listed in App Lock. It is in the lower section of Other Apps.

Have you tried restarting your device?

I have restarted my phone.  I am attaching a picture of the Other Apps section in alpha order. I was reading later about "show Google app" but do not know how to do this if this is the problem.

Re: norton app lock no longer lists "google" in apps available to be locked

And have you restarted your device since the update to Android 7.1.1?

If you look at the all apps screen for your device, do you see the Google apps there? Your image shows only on app related to Google listed in App Lock, while mine shows 5.

Look in Google Settings - Apps and look for the Google app. Check to see if it has been disabled.

EDIT

I just noticed a new version of App Lock is being released. See if that changes anything.

Sorry for the delay in response.  Major problems with Comcast in our area.

I have repeatedly turned off  and on my phone before writing the first time and today.

Now I just deleted the Norton App Lock app and reinstalled but I did not get the new version.  Instead I got the same version I had had (Version 1.3.0.329).   I was installing it from Google Play.

Also I am attaching screen shots for all the available apps inside Norton App Lock.

Thanks for your time

Your 4th image brings something to mind. The apps Moto and Moto Actions indicate you are using  a Motorola device. Another user found an issue with App Lock that was related to a recently updated feature of that make of device. See this thread.  https://community.norton.com/en/comment/7933191#comment-7933191

If you do have a Moto device, please try disabling the Moto Display feature and test to see if things work again.

Re: norton app lock no longer lists "google" in apps available to be locked

I read the link you provided and then I disabled the Moto display.

Powered the phone off and on. No change.

Deleted Norton App Lock.  Read up on the Norton forum/blog that the newest version is arriving over the next week, so reinstalled the old version of Norton App Lock.

Powered the phone off and on. No change.

I have Moto G4 Play while my husband has Moto G5 Plus - I don't think that this matters but if it helps you I pasted two forums lenovo/moto links posted in the last few days - One solution says Norton's problem, the other says Android issue. Sorry, but I'm just confused.

I appreciate your help! and will update the new Norton App Lock version when it arrives, til then "Ackkkkkk!!!"

Re: norton app lock no longer lists "google" in apps available to be locked

Have you checked in Android Settings - Accessibility to see if the Accessibility Service is turned on for App Lock?

Whatever is happening, it appears to be something that was introduced with the Android update for your Moto device. Device manufacturers often introduce proprietary code to the Android OS that can mess with third party apps.

I'll let my contacts know that this issue is happening.

Re: norton app lock no longer lists "google" in apps available to be locked

Hello again -

Received the new version of Norton App Lock - 1.3.0.332 -

Installed - Turned phone on and off repeatedly.   Google is still not listed as an app.

Also checked Accessibility Settings for Norton App Lock Service. It was on and is still on.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

Re: norton app lock no longer lists "google" in apps available to be locked

The Google apps not showing was not listed as to be fixed with this update, but it was worth a try.

My contact has brought this issue to the development team. They still feel it has something to do with the latest updates to the Moto devices. The links you provided, and searching, shows that there have been issues with third party apps since recent updates to the devices.
