They don't even know you are a Norton customer. They just send these out at random, knowing that a good percentage of recipients will be using Norton. Those who don't will immediately recognize the scam and ignore the email. They hope the Norton users will take the bait.

Norton cannot control/stop anyone from sending you an email pretending to be Norton. And there are so many scammers out there, there is no way for Norton to know about every scam. And it is not just Norton being targeted. Microsoft and McAfee are also targets of this kind of scam. And you do not even have to use that product to receive these scams. Obviously, it is easier to catch the scam of you are not using the product.
Consumers have to be on their toes these days to help protect themselves against such scams. Norton customers can check the email sender against this information. Is this email from Norton legitimate?
