I am worried that why all of a sudden I am getting a lot of spam emails

hi all in the early hours of this morning between 02:00 and 04:00 my yahoo mail box on both my android tablet and pc was filled with messages from the Muslim brotherhood in both English and Arabic as soon as i saw these i deleted them then at 08:00 to 10:00 i got another batch again i have deleted them the thing is i am using Norton 360 with VPN yet i am getting this ? i am also contacting yahoo to inform them of this issue my question is Norton 360 a strong enough defence against this type of thing ?

FYI  A VPN does nothing to block emails for any kind. Including spam.

hi thanks for the  information links been talking with yahoo and twitter both are taking action ( possible cause was a piggy backed link or message ) but i am not so sure as i didn't open anything but from a trusted sauce  also i have been busy changing passwords ect yet again
