Why does N360 keep asking me to run a Smart Scan? Just do it automatically!

I just got rid of my Kaspersky even though I had 2 more years on it. And I'm a new user to Norton 360 so this may be a dumb question. But I get this message several times: "It's been a while - how about we fire up the Smart Scan?" ... "It's been 7 days since your last scan."
Surely it has scanned my system in the past 7 days?? If it recommends that I run a Smart Scan, how can I just make it do it without bothering me? It does have a button "Don't show again" at the bottom. But I do want it to run it.. just don't show me the message and run it when I'm not using my pc.
Thanks in advance.. I couldn't find the version number of 360, but I just installed it 2 weeks ago.
