credit card scam with norton

I see now that Norton will not renew a product unless you supply all your credit card details first.

Norton explains that you can delete all the information after five minutes.

If you have a product code the above is not necessary to me it opens up a scam situation and everyone should avoid this.

Norton if you are watching this and you do value your customers security, delete this shocking business practise.

Learn more about your automatically renewing subscription
Our automatically renewing subscription is an easy way to help our customers avoid lapses in their service. You are automatically billed each month or year depending on your selection, so your protection is up to date and active without having to worry about renewing it.

You are subscribed to our automatically renewing subscription when you purchase an automatically renewing subscription from our Norton online store (or) you activate an automatically renewing subscription purchased from a retail store or a Norton-affiliated third-party website.

Once you are subscribed, the billing method that you stored in your account will be charged to renew your subscription at the then-applicable renewal subscription price (monthly or annual), until you cancel. We will send you an email (between 30 to 45 days prior to your renewal) with the price, term, and related details before we charge you so that you know it is coming.

BENEFITS OF AN AUTOMATICALLY RENEWING SUBSCRIPTION
Subscribing to our automatically renewing Norton subscription service ensures that you do not lose your protection. It means you do not have to remember to go back and renew your subscription to stay protected.

Norton Virus Protection Promise* - From the moment you subscribe you will have access to Norton experts that can help keep your devices virus-free or give you a refund*.

  • Check if you are enrolled to an automatically renewing subscription ›
  • Install the protection that you were charged for ›
  • Update your payment method for renewal ›
  • Cancel your automatically renewing subscription ›

If you want a refund for your subscription charge, contact Member Services & Support. Keep in mind that you no longer have the peace of mind that comes with being subscribed if you cancel and receive a refund.

* You must have an automatically renewing device security subscription with antivirus for the virus removal service. If we are unable to remove the virus from your device, you will be entitled to a refund based on the actual price paid for the current term of your subscription. If you have a subscription from NortonLifeLock purchased with either another offering from NortonLifeLock or a third party offering, your refund will be limited to the price of only your subscription for the current term, not to exceed the total price paid. Any refund will be net of any discounts or refunds received and less any applicable taxes, except in certain states and countries where taxes are refundable. The refund does not apply to any damages incurred as a result of viruses. See Norton.com/virus-protection-promise for complete details.

The problem is that Norton requires this payment information before they will activate your product. The OP realises that they can remove the information right away. But this should not be a requirement.
