Unable to install Norton, detecting Sophos

I have an issue when trying to install Norton 360 that is is detecting Sophos Endpoint Firewall.

Sophos WAS installed on this machine previously but has been removed using the uninstaller along with the tamper protection password.

I have also used sophoszap (sophos' own manual removal program) and Revo uninstaller (both found nothing relating to sophos)

All program files regarding sophos have gone and there is nothing in the registry.

I have tried the following (https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KB-000033686?language=en_US) however it doesnt list any installed components.

What is weird is that Windows defender installs without issue.

I have reinstalled and removed sophos again just incase, but it has made no differnce.

Please can someone assist?

There is some piece of Sophos left over on your PC for sure.

You have stated that there are no registry entries leftover. 

Have you tried running CCleaner to detect any obsolete entries? Also have you manually checked context menu for entries? Startup?

i would echo the other reply

run ccleaner and run the registry cleaner for it

would also check the program files ( drive open /program files) sometimes there is a file or 2 left usually empty

can also do a search for sophos ( file search or something like that)

In Win 10 search bar type Services

Kindly locate if Sophos showing up.

Hi,

Services show no Sophos services at all.

Registry under HKLM\Software shows no Sophos Entries the same goes for HKCU\Software

Program files and program files (x86) show no Sophos entries (checked for hidden and protected files)

CC cleaner doesnt pick up anything Sophos realted

Revo uninstaller also doesnt pick up anything sophos related

Firewall is showing protected by windows built in firewall (yet norton still shows Sophos Endpoint firewall as being installed)

Nothing Sophos related exists in startup either.

Following the link on the Norton screen to uninstall Sophos gives me an error stating the directory does not exist (as nothing sophos related is in program files)

I would suggest you to install Sophos again for last and try these steps if in case missed out.
