How to re-activate Norton Utilities Premium

My Norton Utilities Premium stopped working and it said, “re-activate to repair”.  Clicking on “re-activate to repair” took me to a Norton support page that wasn’t too helpful.  I signed in and my subscription showed that my Norton Utilities Premium expired, so I purchased another year at $39.99.  Even though the subscription was renewed, when I opened Norton Utilities Premium it still said, “re-activate to repair”.  Very frustrating!  But I finally figured it out on my own.

The solution was to change the key in Norton Utilities Premium with the new product key after the purchase.  (Unfortunately, Norton doesn't make this clear.)  Here are the steps:

  1. Sign into your Norton account at https://login.norton.com and click on your name and select "manage my subscriptions". Copy the new product key for Norton Utilities Premium. Or follow the link in the renewal email you get from Norton.  It will give the product key to copy.  No need to download the program again if you already have Norton Utilities on your computer.
  2. Open your Norton Utilities Premium and click on "?" (help) in the upper right. Select "About Norton Utilities Premium". When the service window opens, click on "Change key" button.
  3. Paste your new product action key. and then press "finish activation".

Norton Utilities Premium should work once you finish activation.  Good luck!

Re: How to re-activate Norton Utilities Premium

I can never get to anything that says it has expired or how to pay for it outside of my Norton 360 subscription.  I have downloaded the latest and applied the provided Key code to no avail.  Norton support is terrible when you need to get someone in person.

I totally agree with you.  Norton is not intuitive and there is no one at Norton to help you.  I struggled for hours and finally figured out how to make it work.  Once you have the new product key, open your Norton Utilites Premium (that isn't working) and click on "?" (help) in the upper right. Select "About Norton Utilities Premium". When the service window opens, click on "Change key" button.

Paste your new product action key and then press "finish activation".  It should work once you finish activation.

Re: How to re-activate Norton Utilities Premium

Sadly, this doesn't work either. I added a new activation key, uninstalled, reinstalled the program and it still tells me to reactivate. I looked through every possible fix and it does not work. I want to fix the CPU, RAM and fix 2 potenially hamrful programs, but everytime I press re-activate, it takes me to the Norton site. Just let me fix those problems by reactivating. Something so simple shouldn't be this difficult.

Re: How to re-activate Norton Utilities Premium

Yes, pressing the reactivate button sends you to the Norton site again and doesn't actually reactivate Norton Utilities Premium.  That had me aggravated too.  The reason it takes you there is because you have to purchase the renewal for the Utilities Premium to get the new key to reactivate it.

I assume that you purchased the renewal like I did, then pressed the reactivate button and it sends you back to the Norton site, rather than actually reactivating your Utilities Premium.  This endless loop drove me nuts too.  Not logical...

So, ignore the reactivate button and instead go to top of the Utilities Premium window and look for the "?" in the upper right.  Click on the "?" symbol and it will bring up a submenu showing:

  • Get Help Online
  • Check for updates
  • About Norton Utilities Premium

Click on "About Norton Utilities Premium" and will bring up a new window showing service information with a "change product key" button.  Click on the change product key button and paste in your new product key that you purchased.  Finish and your Norton Utilities Premium will work properly again for another year.

If you're like me, a year from now when it expires again, you'll forget how to reactivate and get frustrated all over again

Re: How to re-activate Norton Utilities Premium

I am facing the same problem. The so-called solutions I tried are:

(1) Click on the "?" symbol, change Key to the new Key. It gives the green OK. But when i go back to the main Norton Utilities Premium dashboard, it still shows "Re-activate". I go check the "?" and the Key shown is still the old KEY. So i do this again and again, but once I return to the dashboard, the new KEY entered gets replaced by the old KEY.

(2) Uninstall Norton Utilities Premium using Windows Remove Program. Restarted my laptop and reinstalled Norton Utilities Premium through Norton My Subscription. After installation, i see the same landing page "Re-activate" and when i check "?", it is the old key.

The above solutions do NOT work. What is the solution, please?

Re: How to re-activate Norton Utilities Premium

Same issue here, says valid key enjoy, then main screen says reactivate all over again.

I think they changed the rules, it was a free addon for loyal customers who stayed subscribed, but I think when Norton and Symantec became kinda 2 different entities, all that went out the window. Norton Utilities Premium does not integrate with Norton 360, and this whole Disabled in my Subscriptions list. It expired today, and i cant re activate it. It never had expiry before when it was offered if i recall, or it was something like 2050. I have no solution. Like everyone else going around in circles uninstall reinstall, download, valid key, blah blah.

Re: How to re-activate Norton Utilities Premium

Mine expired today wont work, says valid key then, still asks to reactivate.
