Norton Backup, how back up just one folder

Hello. I am new to this community as of this evening. If I have posted improperly or am in the wrong place, please let me know.

I've been a Norton customer for years. I have other backup solutions for my computers but have periodically tried (always unsuccessfully) to get Norton backup to work. It's just too confusing. It has been beyond frustrating.

Because I am helping a friend with Norton, I am trying to get Norton Backup working on my own computer. It took a LONG time to figure out (only with help searching this community) how to back up JUST ONE FOLDER and I'm not even sure I did it properly. 

I ran the backup and it appeared to run, saying all was successfully copied. 

I logged on to Norton to look at my backup sets and there's nothing there, and indicates NO storage is being used as backup. I did specify the cloud as the backup destination.

When I tried the backup again...the preview said they were already backed up. 

I added another folder, it said the backup ran, but again I see nothing in the cloud backup storage.

I would appreciate any idea. Also, this is not an emergency....
