Identity Safe Needs a 'Sync' Feature

I would like to suggest that a 'Merge' option is included in the 'Identity Safe Data' backup and restore procedures.

At present, when restoring data it deletes all current data before reloading the backup file.

Therefore you lose any additional logins & cards you have added since the backup.

This would save a lot of time re-entering data.

Also, when backing up the data, you would be able to 'Merge' it with a previous backup, and not have a load of NPM files with differing data on each.

This method should be incorporated in both NIS  and  N360, as these NPM files are compatible with both systems.

I suppose this could be called 'Syncing'.

The present 'Overwrite' option should still be there, for anyone who wants to start afresh.

Re: Identity Safe Needs a 'Sync' Feature

I will add my recommendations for this feature as well. It is a very good idea as evidenced by a variety of problems encountered by different users on both N360 and NIS forums.

Re: Identity Safe Needs a 'Sync' Feature

My personal reasons for suggesting this

I have accounts on many pc's.

Home, laptop and work, all using either NIS or N360

I add login data at various times on which ever pc I happen to be using.

I haven't always got the time, or just being human, I forget, to do a data backup immediately.

Therefore I do a back up every couple of days, or when I think of it.

This results in some different logins being on different pc's.

I have a memory stick onto which I backup my NPM Backup files .

At the moment I keep multiple backup sets, but I still cannot put ALL logins on every pc without going through them and typing the missing data in,  where/when required.

The benefit of 'Merge' to me would be that I could just put my Memory Stick in each pc and update a single NPM file.

Which could then be 'Merged' with the current data on each pc.

Resulting in all my login data being on all my accounts, on all pc's

The other benefit is that it doesn't matter whether NIS or N360 is being used, as the NPM data is compatible with both.

This is also handy on Dual Boot, as it works with any OS, XP, Vista or Win 7.

In some cases work pc's are on a different account, but as the Password is unique to the NPM file, it could still be used.

I'm sure I am not the only one with more than one pc, who would benefit by this.

There are cases where this could be used when reloading Norton, or fitting new HDD.

It's a bit of a nuisance when you find you forgot to transfer data after you've entered a few new ones.

Have seen this mentioned in various forums.
