NBRT suggestion - add scan options menu

Did Symantec's technicians thinked about NBRT improvement?

I have few ideas:

- scan options menu, to choose whether to make full HDD scan or just some drivers/directories,

Not counting those requests, NBRT seems to be fine, but it could be better.

What do You think about that?

Re: NBRT suggestion - add scan options menu

- scan options menu, to choose whether to make full HDD scan or just some drivers/directories,

In my opinion , this is unnecessary because Norton's recovery bootable disk is intended to clean active infection preventing Norton product installation. Because of that , scanning FULL is needed only.

- NBRT should be used for free, without the need to have valid Symantec's product PIN number or serial key;

- even if serial key is necessary, could Symantec think about temporary free serials, necessary only for product's registration (needed for statistics, etc.),

As I already wrote above , the product is intended not for free usage but for actual customers who have paid. Symantec is no a charity organization (I have nothing against charity , though).

- optimization module like one NIS 2010 has, which could optimize hard drive performance,

After the malware has been cleaned , Norton can be installed and it can perform its functions.

IMO , what should be changed is to additing support for more hardware. I have never been able to update Norton's bootable disk on numerous systems so that it gets latest defitnions

Re: NBRT suggestion - add scan options menu

Hi there, there are many suggestions into this post and it may be hard to track. A few thoughts: "scan options menu, to choose whether to make full HDD scan or just some drivers/directories" good suggestion. The idea behind have Full system scan only was that we want to keep it simple and make sure we detect everything that has caused so serious damage to the system that the user had to resort to NBRT. "NBRT should be used for free, without the need to have valid Symantec's product PIN number or serial key; - even if serial key is necessary, could Symantec think about temporary free serials, necessary only for product's registration (needed for statistics, etc.)," For various reasons, this tool is available only for Norton customers. If you have your Norton product installed you do not need to type your key, it is picked up automatically. "optimization module like one NIS 2010 has, which could optimize hard drive performance," this is very different feature, why would you like to do this outside you regular OS?
