Installing Norton Anti-Virus on multiple computers

I have installed Norton Antivirus with Antispyware on three separate computers as allowed by my 1 year protection for up to 3 pcs. One of these computers has crashed and will probably require a new HD. My question is , Will I be able to  install norton on this computer using my license for 3 pc protection without purchaseing a new license?

Re: Installing Norton Anti-Virus on multiple computers

No problem likely.

Changing the hard drive may not trigger the "You have exceeded the permitted number of installations" message, but it may not .... If it does just goe to Norotn's OnLine SUpport as below and use the CHAT function -- users tell us it is fast and painless.

To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there.

You can choose CHAT or Email; email or phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.

Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.

If you are able to before changing the hard drive you should uninstall the NAV and tell that to CHAT but if you can't it doesn't really matter since they are used to complete wipe out situations where you don't have a working drive any more.

Please let us know how you get on.

You can download the current version of NAV 2011 from the link below, saving it your hard drive (on any computer) and using it to install on the new drive which will save a lot of updating if you were going to install from the disk you bought.

New NAV 2011: Click on this link NAV 2011

That will give you the NAV-ESD-18-6-0-29-EN.exe version with the rcent fixes for FireFox and other problems.

Re: Installing Norton Anti-Virus on multiple computers

Hello houdini50

Welcome to the Norton Community Forum.

Yes, you can install it on your computer after you have installed a new hard drive. If it is not possible to remove it first from the hard drive that crashed, you might have to contact customer support who can readjust the activations if you should happen to get a warning that you have  exceeded the number of activations..

Please go to www.mynortonaccount,com and retrieve your key for NAV 2011.

Here is the link you can use to reinstall NAV 2011 to your new hard drive.

Please run live update until no more updates and then reboot.

If you get the warning about exceeding the number of activations allowed, then you can contact customer support for free using the chat program. They are the ones who handle product activations, subscriptions, etc.

This is the link for US/Can. If you need a different location, please consult your local Symantec site for the local free chat customer support link.

Please come back and let us know how you made out. Thanks.
