Norton Adware.Dealply Phish/Scam

Two times I've encountered this nasty little phish/scam surfing the web. I feel its something that should be thrown out there in case others are curious about it. Hopefully something is done about this one soon since it really does mimic Norton Antivirus/Security well enough to scare some people into falling for it. Yes this is fake, and yes its an annoying popup that requires the browser to be terminated manually.

Hello

Is it dail or dial? If it's dail---then that is a hint that it isn't a good site....Or is that a typo?

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus 22.18.0.213 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

In today's version -- or the one that hit me in Chrome this morning -- "Ads by Browser Shop" is implicated. The phone number given (supposedly to connect you with Norton for free support) is 1-877-891-0687.

The page at www . treehex . com says:

COMPUTER HEALTH ALERT  etc. etc.

and  " Adware.DealPly has been detected "

It totally blocks all work in my browser. I'm entering this from my other computer while checking to find a solution.

Hello modardinger@hot...

The phone number listed in your post is from a collection company unless this number was recently assigned to them. In all probability, it was some scam company. I second bmj_ that it is time for a visit to one of the free malware removal sites. User name would be more secure if it didn't look like a email address. that's my opinion.

Thanks for your help, bjm and floplot. Yes, I need to set up a new account here that's not an email address.
