Norton Toolbar error APPCRASH

I'm running:

Windows 7 64-bit
Chrome version 39.0.2171.99 m
Norton 360 version
Norton Security Toolbar version: 2014.7.10.15

Sometimes the app crashes with the message:

This crash comes with the option to close the program or to search for a solution.

If I close, then the app icon and extension disappears.  Norton 360 itself disappears.  When using a utility to view processes running, a running 360 is  gone.  There is a dormant 360 there but shows no memory activity.  Normally there are two lines and they both show memory or cpu activity.  So I am left wondering if I am being protected at all.  And there is no way to revive 360.  The icon to open 360 on the task bar is gone.  I can only reboot to get it back.

If I choose the search for a solution, then after a brief wait the app performs normally.

Re: Norton Toolbar error APPCRASH

It sounds like 360 and Chrome aren't playing well together. You may want to try reinstalling 360 with the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool, which will give you a clean replacement install. http://www.norton.com/nrnr

If used, please read the Before you begin note, and run live Update after, until no more are found.

Reboot, and try a fresh install of Chrome. That may help with this issue. Some links here with extra info,
