Re: Norton Core and Comcast Xfinity

Not sure how this could be done. Norton Core requires a Norton Account to register your Core subscription. The Comcast offering has no connection to any Norton Account.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Not true. I have a Norton account through Xfinity. I am using it now. Please do not reply unless you are SURE of your answer!

And can you sign into that account at    https://manage.norton.com

What Comcast does is manage the Norton activations through their own systems. They do not use an actual Norton Account.

In answer to your question - No, your Comcast provided Norton will not offer Norton Core.

Norton Core is a totally different product than Comcast's Norton Security Suite (NSS) with an additional charge for the  product.

For a better understanding of what Norton Core is and the pricing, you can see the following:

https://us.norton.com/core

or perhaps the FAQ's may explain more about Core:

https://us.norton.com/core-secure-router-faq

Also your Norton Core Security subscription includes Norton Security protection for your computers, laptops, and mobile devices. To know the system requirements, you may want to check the system requirements for Norton Security.

The bottom line is that Norton Core is in fact a separate product and does include the protection for all your devices.  If purchased it would in fact replace your current NSS product.

RockManFree stated:

First of all, retail licenses for Norton are controlled through a Norton Account which requires a combination of an email address and a password in order to keep track of and manage your license.  Retail versions of Norton are purchased (normally on a yearly basis).  You may be using Norton but you do not have an account that you paid for with them.   Comcast owns the license and thus Comcast is the owner and manages the license.  They do this in a number of ways, one being periodically verifying you are still a Comcast customer entitled to use the Norton product.  You will also find that there is no provision in NSS for mobile devices.

Secondly, the comment re: "Please do not reply......." is some what uncalled for in that the Guru's are not Norton employees and volunteer their time and share their knowledge in order to help other users.  It appears to me, that you are not aware of Norton Retail products having a "Norton Account" used to manage their license, while your NSS is using Comcast's Norton Account which they manage.

Hopefully I have answered your questions.

Re: Norton Core and Comcast Xfinity

RockManFree - You're pretty much an idiot ... Norton Core is a separate entity altogether and has nothing to do with Comcast ... I've had a Norton account since it was Norton Tools that I used on my DOS computers and use Norton anti-virus now to help protect my computers from malicious software (nothing is fail-safe) ... your Norton account is probably a separate anti-virus plan which millions use ... the Norton Core is a router intended to replace your current router that you have from your internet provider, in my case Comcast ... I bought the Core at a discounted price because I've have Norton anti-virus for a long time ... I'm looking into "cutting the cord" with Comcast as the price keeps going up and I'm paying for hundreds of channels which I don't use ... the Core is the first step in doing this, and, though it has nothing to do with Comcast Infinity, does offer a year's extension of Norton anti-virus on up to twenty connected devices ... Norton Security Suite is available with Xfinity but is a stand-alone offering as Norton has nothing to do with Comcast other than a mutual business agreement ...
