How do I uninstall Norton? Nothing suggested on your site works.

I have tried running the installer. It stalls out.

I have tried killing the processes as administrator. Permission denied.

I have tried using Revo uninstaller. System crashes.

I called and was run around in circles, it seems the only way the Norton team knows how to get rid of their own software is by running the installer.

I do not trust anyone actually working at norton to answer this question. I know for a fact a ton of people have an insane amount of trouble getting Norton uninstalled. I get a notice that I'm not protected every 5 minutes, and apparently 'remind me later' means 'remind me as soon as possible' to you guys.

Thanks in advance to anyone that helps me get this cancerous software off my computer, it's destroying the resources. Can't imaging what is making Norton use all those resources when it claims it's not protecting me. Either you have the xxx developers on earth, or it's a scam.

Norton unusually works quite well, not sure what's going on with it on your computer (since I have little or no info about your situation).

There was a tool called the Norton removal tool, for some reason I had a hard time finding it. It was last update January 2017, so it should be the current version.

ftp://ftp.norton.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

You may want to run it more than once (rebooting between each run). Usually 3 times is enough. If it doesn't ask you to reboot on the 3rd run that is a good sign.

Something is going on with your computer that is not going on with most others (where Norton works fine). You might want to look into what that is. I have a few things you can try after you remove your current Norton install.

The Norton Removal Tool has been supplanted by the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.  Use the Advanced Options on this tool to select "Remove Only."

That sounds like it needs some screenshots to go with it.

It may help users re-install, but users who are just uninstalling or should be running it 3 times might end up worse for the change.

On the other hand the dates on both tools are within a month of each other so maybe both are still supported.

ry g Firstly and most important ensure you are logging onto your computer with an account having been set as Administrator. Change your account type if that isn't the case then reboot. IF the suggestions previously posted have not given you positive results, follow the link below and run the removal and reinstall tool. You will need your account credentials to download. Please let us know how your results were if you would be so kind. Cheers.

Do you have any other security product installed? If so, it could be conflicting with Norton and the attempts to uninstall.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
