Firmware 170818_164 Issues

Hello everyone,

my Norton Core App showed a Firmware Update to _164 earlier today, which I installed immediately. While this update solved some issues, like the Core itself becoming unresponsive (not replying to ping requests) from time to time, it did not solve my issues connected to gaming (still massive ping spikes on wireless connections, regardless of DPI settings).

My Core App now shows another Firmware Update, but, I am unable to install it - the update starts but never finishes. I've tried rebooting the Core, unplugging it from the power, and I started the update 10 times already - no error message, nothing. After a while of "updating" the button "Update Available" shows up again. Any solutions? Thanks!

Re: Firmware 170818_164 Issues

I’m also seeing in the Norton Core app that there is a firmware update available in Settings>About. And no, it won’t install for me either. Any ideas anyone, moderators?

Re: Firmware 170818_164 Issues

Ditto for me also.

UPDATE:

Just referenced the Software stats on the ABOUT screen. The Firmware Version now shows 170818_164 (up-to-date). I guess it takes quite awhile for the App to update itself.

Re: Firmware 170818_164 Issues

Seemingly it's either a bug in the Core App itself or the firmware update has been pulled back

Re: Firmware 170818_164 Issues

I'm still unable to install the firmware update, any new information?

Thanks

Re: Firmware 170818_164 Issues

@denegare / @Richard1864 - Are you still having issues installing the new firmware update? Or does Menu >> Settings >> About >> Firmware Version now say "Up to date"?

What happens when you click on "Update Available"? Is it the same as above, "no error message, nothing. After a while of "updating" the button "Update Available" shows up again."

Re: Firmware 170818_164 Issues

Is there a way to force the firmware update to download again?  I is still starting right away with the message "installing" and never ends.

Thanks.

Those of you that finally got this to work, did u do anything special to get it  to go?

Looks like I might be a firmware version behind now.  Was a new one release tonight?

Re: Firmware 170818_164 Issues

RonMcClary we want to make things as easy as possible for our Norton Core customers. Therefore in case, we have an available firmware update then Norton Core will automatically update itself up to 24 hrs from release time. The button option on the about screen (in our mobile app) is there to make sure that if there is a critical issue which is time critical our customers will be able to get it as soon as possible.

Of course, Norton Core has to be powered on and connected to the internet.

Hope that helps.

Re: Firmware 170818_164 Issues

Benz thanks for the reply.  My problem is that when I click on that button, the android app continually says "installing" and never finishes. It indicates I am on firmware version 170815_156.  I will see what it looks like in the morning (after 24 hours).

Thanks.

Re: Firmware 170818_164 Issues

Hi everyone, we've released an update for the iOS and Android mobile apps, version 1.20.2. This update includes QoS (Quality of Service), new functionality designed to improve the experience for gamers and those customers using VOIP.

QoS reduces the delay between receiving a packet and sending it on, but ONLY for the devices that are specified. To change this setting for a gaming or VOIP device, you'll need to select the device in the app, then turn on this setting (see screenshot for details).

If you've been experiencing lags in gaming, or drops in VOIP calls, please update your app, try this new feature for those gaming and VOIP devices connected to core, and let us know your results. If you still experience problems, we definitely want to know the details. Thanks for your help in making Norton Core the best it can be.

Re: Firmware 170818_164 Issues

Since you've released this update, my T-Mobile Wifi Calling feature no longer functions.  What setting within my allowed/unallowed categories needs to be check in order to resolve this?  Or...how can i put an exception in just for T-Mobile Wifi Calling?
