HI, is it normal for the Norton Core to automatically update the firmware without notice? it just updated to 170920-180 I have app version 1.18
Yes, having a notice would have been nice. I was having some issues with my WiFi, amazingly they all went away after I saw that the Firmware updated...little frustrating.
Let me understand...It is frustrating for you that they fixed a problem you had? They did send a notice, but perhaps you didn't get it before you got the actual update. Either way, was it an inconvenience that they sent some fixes? I for one am glad they are trying to improve the product.
No, the system has been working fine for me until (I assume) the Firmware update occurred. Then it got bogged down, had I received the notification that the CORE was updating, it wouldn't have been a cause for concern.
Overall, I am very happy with the CORE.
I took from your comment that you were having the issue for some time, not just while the update was happening. Sorry for the confusion (hence the name above.)
If there is a firmware update available, it will be applied between 4-5 am local time, and your Norton Core will restart during this process.
If you want to receive a notification that your Norton Core has been updated, launch the mobile app and go to Settings->Mobile App->Notifications, and enable the option for "Firmware Updates".
What happen to the update button in the earlier versions of the app? I like the fact that you didn't have to wait until 4-5 am local time to do the update. For example I believe the app update and the firmware update were release at the same time but I had to wait to get the Firmware update until the next day. You should have option to update as soon as it is available and if it is not done by the 4-5am local time it then should be done. Also, if there is security patch that is needed it can be applied without waiting to the schedule time.
