Core drops all communication when Core begins to blink white

I am on Frontier FIOS using a FIOS-G1100 router.  Norton Core is the only Wifi device connected between the FIOS router and my network.  I have both wifi and direct connect devices to the Norton Core.  Occasionally my Norton Core begins to blink white and my wifi and direct network connection drops.  All the wifi devices no longer sees the norton core wifi SSID. My Windows 10 gets the exclamation point over the network icon that is direct connected.  In a minute, the SSID name reappears and all my connections reconnect to the Norton Core.  Internet and local share access returns.  I am currently on iOS App Version 1.23 and Firmware release 171009_193.  I have contact support since early October.  The answer is always do a factory reset.  At one point the core was restarting 3 to 4 times a day.  Now I only notice it occurring maybe once a week. It could be occurring more frequently but I am not home to notice it. Every time I call support they ask me to do a factory reset.  My whole family is mad at me for switching the wifi router to Norton Core.  I guess it was a bad decision to use my home for bleeding edge technology.

I got a new message from the technician on the call this time.  He says that Norton does on going updates to the core outside of the  major firmware update.  I asked if one occurred on 11/6/2017.  He said yes...  I asked why does Norton apply updates during the day that would cause the router to reboot.  I told him that it would be good to allow users to set the down time for the router.  He said he would let Norton know about that idea.

So here are my questions:

1)  Are there users experiencing this issue?

2) Does Norton really apply minor updates and reboots the device during the day?

3) Could my Norton Core be defective?  It never seems to be the solution to my problem?

I am waiting to hear back from engineering on my issue.  I don't have any hope that the issue will ever be resolved since all I hear is do a factory reset.  I think I can do that blind folded now.  I may have to reinstall my other wifi router until Norton Core becomes stable.

Re: Core drops all communication when Core begins to blink white

Hello

My firmware is showing 164 since I installed it on Oct 23. I have been told I am actually on 193 firmware and Android App is 1.22. The 164 is just a cosmetic issue. As far as I know, I have not had any updates since I installed the Core.

Have a Nice Day and

Thanks.

CST1 & floplot Core firmware updated to version 202 overnight. There is never an announced time to firmware releases unfortunately. Most come based on Pacific time thus being received during the nighttime hours. CST1 your Core is NOT defective. I would suggest that you both power cycle, turn off your Core and allow it to sit for at least 1 minute then power it up. Re-check to see if your firmware gets updated and shows v202 and is visible within your app. Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Mine updated to version 202.  Does this improve Core stability?

CST1 Good morning. I'm following up on your issue. Did the newest firmware release correct your stability issue? Can we help further to investigate? Please give us a heads up if you'd be so kind so we may assist you further if needed.

Re: Core drops all communication when Core begins to blink white

I am currently on 171116_207.  Now that we are all home for Thanksgiving, we have noticed 2 drops today and 2 drops yesterday.  I had to plug in my old wifi router today to stabilize the internet.  I wonder if I can return the Norton Core.  I am done being the beta tester.

CST1 That is sad to hear you're returning Core. I would contact support to begin the return process. I believe there is a time limit which they can discuss with you: http://norton.com/chat  They can also tell you what next steps are to speed up your return and RMA. Have a great day.

Cheers
