Intrusion attempt blocked

Hello all. Early Norton Core adopter here and after some issues with game lag (see other thread), I’m generally very happy.

I look at the notification in the app on a fairly frequent basis and for the first time today I saw this:

”An intrusion attempt was blocked on [computer]”

[computer] is a PC on my home LAN, connected via wire. Does this mean:

a.) [computer] attempted to connect to a remote site and some malicious activity (malware download blocked?) was detected and stopped; or

b) [computer] performed some action that appeared to be an intrusion of some sort?

I guess the other way to ask this is: was my PC protected from something, or was something protected from my PC?

Thanks.

Re: Intrusion attempt blocked

Hello

To me it seems to mean that some other computer tried to attack your computer and Core blocked  the attempt. So your computer should be safe.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Re: Intrusion attempt blocked

Is there an entry for this in Norton History under Intrusion Prevention?  These are generally attempts to exploit known security flaws in computer software that the user has not updated to install available fixes.
