DNS Leaktest now shows Norton Secure DNS as Level 3 Communications

I just checked DNS leaktest and Norton Secure DNS now comes up as Level 3 Communications not Neustar. Maybe this is why Norton DNS seems to be working better. On the other hand, are we getting any advanced (Norton) security from Level 3?

Also, the fourth DNS option (Neustar Advantage) now comes up Level 3.

Is anyone else getting this result?

Sometimes I get one or more "NTT America" items as well...in fact I just got 2 of them when I checked before this message. Weird.

Significant change from the Neustar option(s), but not sure what it means in terms of security, reliability, or if it will remain this way in the long term.

Another thing, the Security Score for my Core drops by 45 points when I pick my ISP's (Cox) DNS, but stays the same for Norton, Google, and Neustar choices - even with the change on Norton and Neustar to Level3/NTT.

This implies the Core doesn't really know what DNS its using, just has a pre-set value for each...

Re: DNS Leaktest now shows Norton Secure DNS as Level 3 Communications

I'm seeing a lot of bouncing around between NTT America and Level 3. Level 3 was used a lot with the Comcast routing processes when I was with them a few years ago. Gaming was crap and constant lags always identified with running MTR's. I will change to my ISP and see what the results are then post here. Right now my score is 477 with guest network enabled.

Cheers

Re: DNS Leaktest now shows Norton Secure DNS as Level 3 Communications

Hello Soul

I have the same 477 now with FIOS. When I was on ISP DNS, it dropped me down to the Good Range. As soon as I changed the setting, it went up to the 477 which I had originally with CORE DNS.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

I just got 1 NTT America and 2 Level 3. Level 3 used to be good when I was playing my online game.
