Just a thought with the SPELLCHECKER

Could you make it so I just spell check my bad spelling in my reply PM and not in the message that I have quoted??Drives me nuts ignoring all the previous bad spelling...OOps did I just say that out loud??

But seriously could that be an option?

Edited my poor grammar

Hi Mo:

I can't help myself. I correct the obvious spelling glitches in the quote as well.  Usually it is fat finger syndrome.

LOL I  understand but This is probably a better description of what  I mean ......it has to run through the quoted message first then mine,I would like it just to go through what I have written.

Sudden thought....all depends when you push the "Quote " button before your message or after your message....Oh dear!!

Correct!  You don't have to have the Quote above your Reply...

Yep - when you're answering a message, said message is displayed under "reply to", just underneath the message you are writing in response, so you can scroll down a little for a peek ;-))

Looks like it's all a matter of sequence in this case ;-D

After writing the above, I ran the spellchecker and quoted Floating_Red's answer, just like you suggested, mo...;-))))))) Worked fine ;-D

Floating_Red: You're right, if one quotes someone, one has to quote with the misspellings (at least in, for instance, seminar papers). What you do in such a case is the following (I'm going to quote you):

"And if one corrects the bad speeling of one Pooster [sic]"...In this case, [sic] is used to indicate that it is not you who has misquoted the word(s), but that it is the original author who is responsible for the misspelling(s) ;-)) "sic" is Latin for "so; thus; this way" :-D

However, I shudder at the thought of "sic" cropping up all over the forum now ;-))) Don't "sic" the place, or I'll sic my alien on you ;-))

Re: Just a thought with the SPELLCHECKER

So basically, the spell-checker will insist on checking everything - even if you mark only a specific chunk of text, the spell-checker will ignore the highlighted text and check everything anyway. Maybe the spell-checker could be more...sensitive by checking only the selected bits of text, as mo suggested?Message Edited by Yaso_Kuuhl on 08-22-2009 02:30 PM

Why don't we just stick with "fat finger syndrome" - it makes reading posts much more fun!!!!
