QoS setting issue

Got a new PC for gaming. Expected lag problems (see my old thread before the QoS setting existed). Trying to turn on QoS setting under "Devices". Turns to green. Lag problems still happening. Go back in. Setting turned off. Try several times. Setting won't stick.

Thoughts?

Re: QoS setting issue

Hello jbanghart

Are you using a Windows Administrator to do the settings? You can also make 2 settings and put the gaming machine on the faster speed. Turn off Fast Startup in your gaming machine. Set the priority to that gaming machine also. Go over your Norton settings in your computer.

Have a Good Day and

Thanks.

Re: QoS setting issue

jbanghart Reboot your phone then, In your app make sure the device in question has managed selected as well. Then set QOS. If the computer is connected wireless have it connect to the 5.0GHz side of the network. Suggestion is to separate your 2.4Ghz and 5 GHz networks with a separate SSID and password for each.

Cheers

Re: QoS setting issue

Thanks. Tried those steps but same problem. PC is wired, my phone is connected to 5 GHz network. I have successfully enabled QoS on other devices, so not sure what is up with this one.

Would removing it and then letting the Core rediscover make any difference?

Re: QoS setting issue

Try making it a priority device then attempt assigning QOS.

Re: QoS setting issue

Hello

Since it is a new computer, are there any free trial security products installed in the computer? If there are any, they have to be removed using the removal tool from the other vendor.

After making the changes you have made, did you try restarting both your computer and restarting the Core, restarting, not resetting and also restart the phone.

Perhaps that will help.

Thanks.

Re: QoS setting issue

Tried this. Interestingly, in the Notifications, it reports that QoS is being turned on, and then automatically back off again. So the setting appears to be taking but then being switched off by the router.

I have tried power cycling the router (unplug and plug back in) and restarting my phone, still the same issue.

Re: QoS setting issue

I'm at a loss with this one. I can suggest powering down / remove power from the Core and allow to sit 10 minutes without power applied then restart after 10 minutes. That should allow the Core to drain any power excess or RF energy and to clear itself. Since there isn't a way to physically remove devices from Core manually, they will remain showing as having previously been on the network and drop off only after 30 days have passed. That is absolutely the one thing needing correcting a very long time ago. Prevents a lot of headaches with that ability being present. The only other option, which we Core owners do not prefer is a factory reset. Remove the Core from your account in doing so to wipe all the settings in the cloud. The Core then would replace the current firmware. Please let us know what you decide.

You can also shake your phone and send logs, in the comments field add the link to this thread, your forums username and Core serial number. Then send a PM to Gayathri_R with your Core serial number as well so she can tie the logs to you.

Cheers

Re: QoS setting issue

jbanghart Firmware update v237 is now available, although to a LIMITED audience. I have not seen the update thus far today but will be looking for it. Hoping the update will clear your QOS issue once its received.
