Biography: Born and raised in Southern California, growing up I thought I would work in the entertainment industry. While in college studying theater and art, I got a job at the local library, and that's where my career took it's first turn. My specialty at the library was Teen Programming. I traveled across the country to various conferences giving presentations on Teen Outreach, I had papers published, and spoke to State Government about this topic. I also continued acting and directing at various regional theaters in the southern California area. I even because the Artistic Director of the Chino Community Theatre. After ten years working in libraries, my career took another turn. Some background: I got my first computer when I was 9 in 1980, and immediately started programming games using BASIC. Eventually I was building my own computers and websites for myself, friends, and the county library system. I got married in 1997, and we bought our first house in 1998. I had my first child in 1999. In 2000 I had a friend working at Symantec who reached out to me about a supervisory position. This position would need to be familiar with computing, but whose main task would be managing, mentoring, and coaching a "talent farm" of new employees right out of college, turning them into Symantec employees. This began my career in the software industry as a "People Manager" and put my dreams of acting on hold. In 2006 I became a Buddhist and have been a daily practitioner ever since, going on several weeks-long silent meditation retreats. After many years of working long hours away from home, last year I returned to the stage for the first time in 15 years, performing with my youngest child in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. I have also continued to perform in avant garde pieces in the Santa Monica and Hollywood areas. I recently moved into a home built in 1976, which provides me with plenty of home-improvement projects to work on. My children are currently 15 and 18, and both are involved in their school bands, winning many prestigious awards at band competitions in the Southern California area. On nights that I'm free, I sing karaoke with friends at a local bar. I'm known for singing New Wave songs from the 1980s. I hope to continue my career at Symantec, retiring as an old man.
