Privacy Monitor

I purchased the Privacy Monitor to assist with removing my personal info from the web.  I purchased this service back on December 1 and have yet to receive an e-mail confirmation concerning my case.  I was told it would be 2-3 weeks.  We're nearing the end of December and am getting a little concerned about this service.  I'm concerned because the credit bureaus and even Norton itself are still reporting that my personal information is still on the web.  The number of search results I had before the purchase of the Privacy Monitor are exactly the same today - nothing has been removed.  Maybe my expectations are off on this but does anyone know whether this service actually works?  Unfortunately, I'm running Windows 8 but am not having an issues using Norton with this platform.  Below is the current message I receive from Norton about this service:

Re: Privacy Monitor

I have the same question.  My purchase date was 11/25/21.  I get the same messages as above.  Has anyone actually received any confirmation that this product actually does what it says it will do?

Re: Privacy Monitor

Sorry, I don't have Privacy Monitor experience.

The scan is run every 3 months so you have to wait until they do run for the first time and then your results will be available by logging in to your account and clicking on Privacy panel. The results will not change until the next scan is completed.

Re: Privacy Monitor

I have had Privacy Monitor for quite some time, and I have never been sure of the due diligence of this service. I have the same experience as other contributors herein, and have had to go to the sites reported to me by Privacy Monitor to opt-out myself. Be advised, that I have gone to each site with my information, and requested an opt-out several times with no success, and my endeavor begin in November 2021. I am now trying to contact these tracking sites by phone, but they require my phone information, and most can only be contacted online. So far, I have found this experience to be quite disappointing that I cannot get a response from anyone (Symantec/Norton or the Tracking Websites) and I pay quite a hefty annual subscription for N360. I will provide an update as I pursue actual contact with these tracking sites and [their] response to my requests.

Re: Privacy Monitor

As I write this second update about Privacy Monitor findings, results, lack of responsiveness, and doubt about this service, I contacted the Federal Trade Commission, and got a referral to a database of information that I reviewed, and found my information on an additional seven (7) websites other than those identified by Norton Privacy Monitor. I manually requested "opt-outs" from all sites via instructions in this database and one (1) site responded immediately and removed my information minutes after I requested the "opt-out." Another site insisted on sending me a "code" to my phone. It did so and stated it would remove my information. It is quite a wicked web of sites to deal with in order to secure your own privacy. This I have determined will be an on-going act of diligence, and tracking. Trust but verify.

Re: Privacy Monitor

My follow-up to Norton Privacy Monitor and adding recent information about Norton Anti-Track issue (We are unable to Verify Your Subscription - transient issue - comes and goes). After digging in to the websites called-out or identified by Norton Privacy Monitor I am still unable to remove my information after several requests. In addition, in a previous log entry I indicated that I had gone to the Federal Trade Commission and indeed I found my information on an additional seven (7) websites and requested my information removal. THESE SITES all responded quickly and removed my information. Of course, I realize that I may have to return to these sites every 30 days or so in order to ensure my information does not return. The three (3) websites flagged by Norton Privacy Monitor (within the Norton Network) will not remove my information although it is flagged by Norton as exposure. I have as of today requested removal from these three (3) remaining sites and will update this community of my findings. I may choose to opt-out of Privacy Monitor although it claims to search the Dark Web for my information and has found some information on the Dark Web of mine, but I may just download Tor Browser and start following-up on my own about any of my information.

Re: Privacy Monitor

Same as the previous posts on this thread. Four weeks ago I submitted the opt out request through Privacy Monitor Assistant for the 6 sites it found my personal information on. It said I would receive an email in 2-3 weeks with the results. I've received nothing and my personal information is still found on all 6 sites. Needless to say, I won't be renewing my subscription to Privacy Monitor. Apparently it does nothing but take your money for no service.

Re: Privacy Monitor

Interestingly, I finally received communication from Norton Privacy Monitor in the form of an email that indicated I was REMOVED from the sites called-out by Privacy Monitor. In fact, after logging into my Norton Account I find the field rendered: "REMOVED" highlighted in green. However, after going to the sites identified by Privacy Monitor I still find my information. Subsequently, I requested yet another OPT-OUT manually and I expect no results from this because I have opted-out several times from these "Norton Network" sites. I am disappointed in Privacy Monitor and it makes me concerned for "Dark Web Monitoring" as well. Trust, but verify.
