LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

I've had Norton and Truecrypt together for about a week now and they worked together fine, they both stayed out of each others way.. Yesterday, that changed. No, it might of even started the day before yesterday. Allow me to start there since it might help find out the issue. So, on that day, I downloaded a file, Norton flagged it(WS.Reputation.1) and removed it, I disabled Norton and downloaded it again thinking Norton made a mistake, ran it on VirusTotal.com, and 7 anti-virus programs detected danger(most of them called it a Trojan).and the file stopped being read after  the 7th positive detection. So I deleted it, ran Norton immediately, downloaded and ran Malwarebytes and they both showed no Trogan on the computer. My computer started showing symptoms of a Trojan(slowing down, not being slow to load websites, etc) this was while Norton was doing a full system scan. After the scan came up clean, file thumbnails soon started going blank(they had a blank page icon) and some even vanished all together, like Recycle Bins. Even my Chrome browser stopped loading, it wouldn't even load the settings page. So, I panicked, restarted the system, logged back on and guess what? Norton was gone. It failed to start and wouldn't respond to my request to run. It was showing up on Task manager's list of programs running but not on the list of active programs. 8 or so minutes later, just as I am about to restart, Norton suddenly ran an autofix. Then I restarted.again and everything was back to normal.

Forward to a day later, I try and mount a PNP Truecrypt folder to view a few documents before I leave overseas, and just as I opened the mounted folder and started to scroll, I got a BSOD. The error said "PNP_DETECTED_FATAL_ERROR." I thought it was just a weird mistake, so I logged on, and tried again...same error. I then fitted with the settings and tried to get my files out of that Mount but everytime I even tried to move a file an inch, I got the BSOD. I couldn't open the folder after mounting because I'd get a BSOD. I got 8 of them before I gave up and ran a BSOD viewer. They all showed that the driver that caused it was either SRTSP64.SYS or BHDrvx64.sys and it originates in ntoskrnl.exe. The BSOD's also shared the same bug check code of 0x000000ca and parameter 1 of 00000000`00000002.

I elected to then uninstall Norton, and remove the files. It worked, I got no BSOD. So I assumed the issue was over and mounted them again then installed Norton back.

Forward to today, I move the Mount to an old external(formally internal) HDD I found. I encrypted some space on that HDD and attempted to add my files over there to the external drive so I could bring them with me overseas. The moment the files touched that HDD, BSOD! She came back. Same error, same driver, same location. What do I have to do to get Norton to get along with Truecrypt short of uninstalling Norton for a refund? I don't want to do that since I really like Norton but this is getting annoying and I don't want my brand new computer to be damaged by repeated BSOD's.

This desktop computer is only 1.5  weeks out the box, so it can't be the computer.

Hello,

I can see some of you have already received the patch and so far the feedback is positive. For more details, you can read the official announcement here.

I'm wanted to thank you all on behalf of the Norton team for your patience while we were working on this patch. All your feedback was welcomed and will certainly be taken into consideration while we continue to focus on the constant improvement of our services and products.

Finally, I wanted to extend a special thank you to those users who were supportive and understanding of my own interventions here. It certainly is very rewarding to interact with customers who are able to keep up a good and professional relationship with their points of contact regardless of the issues that they are facing.

Hello Antibluescreen

Do you have a fix for the issue other than uninstalling Norton Security or Norton Security with Backup? Please share your fix.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

Hey Gurus...

Please STOP bullying and trying to intimidate Users here in this and other forums.

You are COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL.

Norton has screwed up - if you believe it actually takes 100+ days to fix such a problem, and that  they are taking it very seriously and hard at work on it, then you should alert users in every conversation you have about any other problems in other areas, that a 100 day wait is normal for Symantec/Norton. Business as usual.  Just another day in the Norton office.

Got a Failure caused by a Norton Update? Getting the Blue Screen of Death because of Norton security Code? Hey we'll get to it soon... just as soon as we finish this over here ...  hey promise we're working on it... real hard too!

 Trust us, we're working...

This is the same crack staff that is so thorough in coding and testing that they released an update in February that crashed a rather unknown obscure program called Microsoft Internet Explorer. Gosh, that must have snuck by testing easy .  That grand Coding and (lack of) Testing by the Symantec/Norton team  affected  possibly millions of computers.  Sure fills me with confidence, knowing that same team is working on fixing some really evil destructive code that is STILL inside Norton Security  100 days+ after being alerted of it !

And you floplot put a nice 'happy face' on that disaster by telling users "The IE crash problem was fixed by Symantec in about 6 hours after it was reported on Friday night. That was a quick remediation of a problem on a weekend." (Posted: 23-Feb-2015 | 2:54PM by floplot )

I'm hoping you don't say "wow, 100 days, that was a pretty quick remediation by Symantec for causing Blue Screen of Death failures to your computers !

If you Guru's think 100+ days for a BSOD fix is OK, just normal operations for Symantec/Norton... just  say so.

So far, the only fix I see happening is to return to a year+ old product and waiting, or as seems to be now happening with regularity, watching experienced users leave the Symantec ship for other products.  Alas with a "I'll never go back to Symantec" dedication.

Are you Guru's paid anything by anybody to be in these forums?

Really Guru's your attitude and bullying users here is obscene.

If you have HELPFUL things to say, do so.  OItherwise  shut your keyboards off.

Lillana, is this the kind of help you want to see in this (and other)  forum by your Guru's?

Hear, hear Michael. As a retired system analyst/programmer I can say without hesitation that there is no way that a fix for this should take this long. Especially since they know the code that broke it.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

The issue of crashing IE was fixed in an amazingly fast way. Hence I doubt whether Norton devs fixed it. Because it affected the enterprise users also, most probably the Symantec (owner of Norton) employees tracked down the bug and created the patch/solution which was pushed to Norton customers too. This comes from the fact that the basic updates being pushed to both line of customers are same/identical.
I dont think Gurus' are being payed by Norton/Symantec for the service BUT, IMHO flo's previous comment shouldn't have been interpreted in aggressive way. May be she was keen in knowing any workable ideas that may solve the problem temporarily untill the patch is out.

BTW, I am too frustrated by the lack of positive response from company.
There are many ways that can resolve the problem.
1) Accept the offer and downgrade your product.
2) Hold on with the current product, disabling the protection features when the situation comes
3) Ask for refund
4) File a class action/ law suit as per consumer protection laws of your country and demand for compensation of the loss of time, effort and money as well as frustrtation you suffered.
5) Forget the great things Norton have done to protect you and get another competitor's product.

Its unjustifiable but may be a lot of internal shifts are going on behind the scene and may be the devs who designed the code were laid off....
All the above are only my opinions on this subject.

What constitutes 'rude and agressive' is a matter of opinion. Mine is that Michael's comments cannot reasonably fall into that  classification. Exasperated would probably be a better description - if one can be barred for venting exasperation then that  reflects very badly on this forum. Who can blame him and other posters for being exasperated with this situation.

Floplots comments, it is suggested, might have been a heartfelt request that for an unknown fix from another poster - now that  really is stretching credibility. Equally, I don't think it is rude, bullying or aggressive - but clearly it was facetious, pointless and irritating. The oft-repeated mantra is that guru's are here to help - clearly comments like that help no-one and merely serve to undermine the notion that that is the raison d'etre of a guru. And yes, they irritate other posters.

Raising the prospect of a  forum ban is disgraceful.

The problem is, of course, of Norton's making - not the gurus and certainly not the users. I shan't repeat myself and others views on how this is being handled by Norton - suffice to say that for those affected it is a serious and destructive problem and there is no excuse whatsoever for the time it is taking to issue a patch. No excuse whatsoever and the deafening silence form Norton on the matter is equally inexcusable.

Norton claim they are reading all posts here - so please consider this an invitation to let your customers know what  is happening and to explain the lack of any apparent progress. Your gurus are being left to bare the brunt of your customer's frustrations so man up and let us know what  is happening. Hello?

Hello,

I'm sad to see that this discussion has gone in such a negative direction. I'm not going to place myself on anyone's side here. I'm going to speak to all. I totally understand that many of you are frustrated with this issue, but I would ask that all of you make an effort to respect each other's views. If someone is insisting Norton is not working on this despite the fact I have stated we are, that they are sure we don't care - their opinion is to be respected. In the same way, if someone expresses their belief that we are working on this - their opinion is to be respected as well. I ask everyone who is feeling upset with other forum users to take a step back, relax let go.

We are still working (yes, actively) on that patch and it will be included in a future update to be announced as soon as possible. I can't announce that ETA but as time goes by we are getting closer...

Thank you all

Yes, like in everything else, there is a date, however it is against our policy to divulge that date, because like in everything else, dates may need to change also.  This is a standard policy we apply to any fix and any situation. Unfortunately this fix has taken more time than we would have wished for, but there were specific reasons behind it. We have no interest in delaying a fix and no interest in frustrating our customers. If we have been taking this long, it's because we had to.

Ok Lilianna if there were specific reasons behind the delay, I think it would go a long way in restoring the customers relationships with Norton to tell us what those reasons are.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

Specific reasons? I hope they will explain them here after the future fix has been released. No interest in delaying a fix? But perhaps not enough manpower to produce one? No interest in frustrating our customers? But hopefully an interest in satisfying them...

Thank you for your understanding? Do we have another choice? I think all the contributors in this thread bought NS 2015 and now have that specific problem. And we all may have read the statement that the Antivirus product is no moneymaker anymore. That should have been a good hint...

Still using NS 2015 on three machines with the restrictions of switching off Antivirus at certain times. I do not want to waste my money, so I stay with Norton as long as the subscription goes. But afterwards, I will move on. Even if Antivirus products are said to be slow against virus or trojan attacks, one is expected to have them installed on a machine - e.g. if one uses it for online banking.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

First let’s get a couple things straight.  I have ZERO tolerance for what I perceive to be bullying or intimidation, or the like, by anyone in a company with which I do business.  This includes unpaid helpers for that business.  I have ZERO tolerance.

The reply to AntiBlueScreen,  was not an honest reply,  not helpful at all, but was a reply that was made only in order to bully, intimidate, and degrade.  In my opinion.

And I felt that there was a recent growth of such comments made by various ‘helpers’,  all designed ONLY  to intimidate and bully Norton Customers who voiced their opinions and thoughts and concerns.  Such action, especially by “helpers”  I will NOT tolerate, nor should Symantec.   I will NOT do business with any company that tolerates such comments.   If you have to Ban me from this forum because of this, so be it.

If some Guru’s think I am being rude, I’m sorry.    The reply to AntiBlueScreen by a 'Guru' just pushed me over the edge....

A few days ago I posted a comment in which I said:
“Lillana Gaspar (a Norton employee)  did write here on the 2nd of March that Norton actually was still working on a fix and that there is someone at Norton who reads these posts almost daily...  and I think we have to take her word on this...”

Myself, I believe Symantec actually IS, in some way or another, slowly, wthout urgency, working on this problem, but I believe that the problem is far more fundamental to Norton Security than just getting functionally back so we can use Virtual Drives.... I think they could have done that alone in just a few days.

But Norton’s recent history with Patches and Updates is dismal to say the least, so I have little confidence in Symantec/Norton now.

It irrates me to no end a fix has not yet taken place after 100+ days, and I will continue to express my deep dissatisfaction in no uncertain terms, with the lack of apparent action on this matter, and the lack of information about what is going on.  I am NOT a happy customer.

And foolishly, I keep thinking that maybe, just perhaps, with it being the end of the month, the end of the Quarter, over 100+ days of some pretty evil code residing inside Norton Security, maybe real soon, we will get a fix.   I would hate to think that this fault in Norton code and functioning might continue for another 30 or 60 or 90 days or more.

But then I have next to no confidence in Norton anymore.  In fact I have purchased a competior's software to use on 3 of my business computers that need constant Internet access, ones I'd assumed would have a Noton Fixed product by now.  The remaining two that require constant Internet access have the downgrade, and await a Symantec/Norton fix.

Lastly, nothing will happen unless we as Customers continue to raise hell.

Regards to all...

Hi Liliana

What follows isn't directed at you; it's aimed at anyone in Symantec's management team who has a KPI/KRA based on the Norton product's release date that affects them personally. You're just the messenger and I thank you for taking the time to respond.

To clarify, the standard policy is applied to any date situation except for the product's release date. The product release date appears to be locked into the month of September and the new Norton product will be released during that month regardless of whether it is ready or not. The issue of failing to fix any unresolved technical debt incurred by previous versions of the Norton product was raised quite early during Norton v22 beta testing.

While it's noble to say that Symantec has no interest in frustrating their customers, this intention often fails in practice. Please read the following thread in it's entirety (including all of the cross-reference links):

https://community.norton.com/en/forums/sonar-and-cloud-scanning

This SONAR issue was raised within a few days of the initial Norton v22 beta release. The lack of any response, to date, from Symantec regarding this issue has been staggering. Why are we discussing an issue like this with a released Norton product? Why wasn't this issue addressed during the Norton product's beta testing cycle?

Timely and informative communication from Symantec regarding unresolved Norton product issues would be appreciated by Norton Community forum members. It would go a long way in terms of addressing the inherently hostile user responses displayed in threads like this one.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

I would urge everyone that is affected by this problem to go to the various websites that sell NS and write a review that informs people considering buying it what is going on. I think potential customers have a right to know how Norton handles major problems like this one, and it is a major problem. Anytime a product causes a BSOD for any reason, it is a major problem.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

I bought a new Norton subscription a few days ago, and also started having this issue yesterday. Quick search led me here.

I've been searching through this thread, and to say the least, it is shocking that this issue has been around for 100+ days.

A few observations:

  • Supposedly, there are Norton employees reading this thread. In most companies, the employees that browse forums don't really have any real power to do anything. They are usually messenger employees that track and enter bugs into the system, read release schedules, and report back to the customers. This is more or less their job description.
  • The managers or engineers that actually work on these problems don't usually browse forums, and as far as they are concerned, this is just yet another defect id in the system. If these guys are not taking this issue seriously enough, that just means that the front line messenger employees are not conveying the urgency of this issue with enough force. It's tough sometimes, since the engineers sometimes tend to "ignore" frontline employees (internal politics/perceptions), but the frontline guys need to speak out more in the internal meetings to really push the severity of this issue.
  • The customers that use encrypted drives and complain about it are usually "high impact" / technically saavy customers. Such customers usually have a lot of say with their friends and families who also use computer products. And so making these customers unhappy probably has a multiplier effect wrt other customers in terms of future business.
  • As a SECURITY COMPANY, causing a BSOD for a customer using another SECURITY product is just in poor taste.
  • Having a BSOD in the system for almost 4 months (of a 1 year subscription) is in VERY poor taste.
  • As for the Gurus. I trust when you guys say that you are not Norton employees. But I have to ask, given the force in which you defend Norton. Do you guys work for another company (e.g. subcontractor) that Norton has hired to "help" on its forums? So, strictly speaking, you are not Norton employees, but you are still paid by someone else who "work" for Norton?

Thank you.

I can only speak for myself. I have never worked in high tech. I worked for 35 years in non tech retail. Currently retired. So no remuneration of any kind from Norton.

I think we are all in the same boat - inside looking out - and all of us are frustrated that our product doesn't work in all the situations we expect it to, and frustrated x2 that we have no idea why, and frustrated x3 that we have no firm idea when it will be fixed. That said I constantly roll my eyes at posters who are convinced that Symantec knows EXACTLY what the problem is, and how to fix it but simply has not. I am NOT a Norton defender or apologist, but unless we are part of their tech team, we can speculate all we want but all our speculation is worth squat.

For me, I agreed to wait until a REAL fix was forthcoming and then re-evaluate. I renewed from Norton 360 to NS2015 recently enough that I am one of the lucky ones that can still claim a legitimate refund (assuming the fix date does not go on for yet another month....). And that's what I will do.

I have already taken the forced "opportunity" to evaluate 2 other products on free trials: BitDefender and Kaspersky. While I liked Kaspersky, it seemed to fail more than once getting updates so I am not wanting to jump from frying pan into fire and trade one dysfunctional program for another. BitDefender seems to have worked well for me so far, so that's where I am leaning.

And expressing our frustrations and such that this fix has already taken far too long. This is NOT the place for a discussion if I am right or wrong, a good person or a bad person, blue eyed or brown eyed.

Or if folks need a public discussion about me so everyone can jump in, let's open up a whole new thread on it. I'll be happy to be there.

But please do tell us, aside from the fact that we are all frustrated and have all expressed our displeasure more than once, do you propose that "we get on with the business at hand"?  Short of dumping Norton altogether, which many have done and many more of us might well do soon, how is continuing to harumph at the guru's and sending more and more irate missives to Norton via this forum getting on with the business at hand? Other than a cathartic effect, if any, by venting our own frustrations, how does this help move us forward?

Two scenarios: 1. Either Norton really are being as diligent as they can be, in which case they are more than well aware of all of us and our frustrations and are trying their best to fix this; or 2. Norton doesn't give a tinker's damn about any of this and they will get to it if and when they get to it.

Either way, continuing to harangue them via this forum seems a bit pointless to me. If there is NEW info or insights to post that might be helpful to them then by all means we should share it.

If not...

Elsewhere...

Thank you for this contribution  !!  Both the material presented is excellent, documented and clear,  and the non-fix on this side-topic very scary..  I suggest EVERYONE HERE READ THE LINKED MATERIAL.  When flaws are found and documented, we all expect them to be addressed quickly, and correctly... seems we here in the Virtual Drive BSOD thread are not alone with delays in coding fixes.

With so many of us are having lengthty unresolved Norton Security Code problems, one wonders what the heck is going on at Norton and how severly they were impacted by the layoffs and future Company split-up.  Regards, Michael Gore

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

As a consumer we have the right to know when is the ETA for the fix.  Without a date we have a lack of confident of Norton.  After all, I think Norton did say a fix will be coming very soon and that was 3 months ago.   Is Norton basically saying just sit and wait? I can't even return the software because its beyond the return policy date.

Why can't you explain why is it taking so long for a fix so we can understand?

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

This makes me wonder if Norton folks use their own product?!? How can they not fix this after all this time?! Both my windows 8.1 machines are affected. Thankfully my win7 machine is not, and it is now my main-use pc because of this. They "EOL" N360, so reluctantly we buy an "upgrade" to NSwB since they claim NS is a new product and therefore can't transfer remaining N360 subscription days unless the new program is purchased. Come to find out, the newly released NS has shutdown bugs. and after long wait for that fix, they release a patch, that now breaks other things! so now we are left to wait for a patch to that patch. Why can't they go back and look at that prior fix to see what is causting this new issue? - clearly it's something within that long-shutdown fix. I am not about to go thru the "workaround" of uninstalling-then-reinstalling-prior N360, then uninstalling and reinstalling NS. Thankfully I have a win7 machine that I can use with my encrypted stuff, or I too, would be very irate! I am wishing now that I didn't buy this "upgrade" and transfer my 300+ remaining sub days to NS. Been a Norton user for over a decade but this has me considering jumping ship. but I guess they could care less, as I already paid.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

I think it will be included with the next minor update to v22.1. To the best of my knowledge, it should arrive 15-20 April. No source or further elaboration however.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

I don't want to throw FIRE on this discussion, but our copy is going to end (NIS 2014) that was the 'replacement'  for NS on 3/31. Is this going to be fixed by then or not? If NOT, what will be done to extend NIS 2014 further?

A very reasonable query -- just so you know it's not ignored I've signaled Liliana about your query .....

That's a good question,  do Norton use their own product?

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

Well, doh!!!

I've been reading these plaintive wails for over 3 months now, and it's getting boring!  Those of you who have been caterwauling about the unfairness of it all, the lack of Symantec/Norton's interest in our problem, the "how dare they disregard their loyal, paying customers" whiners, etc. et al, leave me in amazement.  My neighbor, who has breast cancer, told me one day, "it is what it is, and it will be what it will be".  That's reality folks.  And comparatively, whatever Norton does and when they do it, it will be what it will be.  None of you, nor I are going to change that.  The fix will come when it comes, so for Pete's sake, stop whining.  If you're unable to accept that, then cancel your subscription, get your refund and go with another product.  I'm reminded me of a co-worker who used to complain about his wife, telling everyone how stupid she was.  Finally someone asked him why, if she was so stupid, did he continue to stay married to her, because obviously, to do so, meant he was as stupid or stupider than she was.  Maybe they deserved each other.  My answer to the intellectuals who wonder why, if I'm so blasé, I continue to read these posts, is, it's more entertaining than listening to the lies coming from the White House and Hillary.

  Enuf already.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

On March 12, Liliana informed me by PM that she extended my temporary NIS 2014 license from March 31 to April 5 (as she planned to be out of the office around March 31). As I did not hear anything new, I assume that the expected fix will be published very soon.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

Hello,

Everyone who received a licence for a Norton 2014 from me should currently have a valid licence until 5th of April. If that's not the case, or for any queries regarding your specific licence / situation, please do contact me by private message and include your Norton email address.

Thank you

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

I have been waiting für more than 3 months

I asked Norton for a refund, because the company is not able to fix the problem.

I got the answer, that a refund is only possible within 60 days.

That's not, what The people in this Forum have promised.

Thank you Symantec

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

Norton sell a product that has bugs and still haven't provided a fix plus you can't get a refund after 60 days.  Other People should be aware of how Norton as a company take care of their customers.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

Now I got The PM from Liliana,

the policy of Norton is a 60-days-refund-possibility and that's it.

Maybe Symantec is forced not to support Crypt-Software, so now I Switched to a german Anti-Virus-Company.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

The reason why this is taking so long is because its in low priority.   The more people voice how they feel the quicker it will be resolved.  I feel that there will be no fix anytime soon.

I asked several times why its taking so long but i never got a real answer.

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

I think Liliana_Gaspar has clearly announced that “it is against our policy to divulge that date (for the fix)”, and also it seems to be against Symantec's policy to reveal details about the bug/fix. I disagree with Antibluescreen's plea: “The reason why this is taking so long is because its in low priority.”

I think we have to respect their choices, but in my personal opinion it would be a benefit for the company to be a bit more open to their customers. Personally I am not affected of this bug, but I am really concerned about Symantec's image with respect to v22 (the change of license rights (upgrade), the long shutdown time, the BSOD, and ….

But overall I am very confident with Norton after having migrated from another well-known IS vendor; I do not want to go back. This week is exiting............

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

Hello,

@casibecker: what you are stating is simply NOT true. In your private message to me you said I had "promised" a refund past 60 days. I asked you to point me to the message where I had made that promise, since I didn't recall ever making a promise that goes against Symantec's policies. I ALSO said I didn't mind checking what we could do for you. That wasn't a promise that we could give you a refund, but it showed good will on my part.

I must say since I started handling this issue on the forum I've done my very best to help everyone who contacted me and I've been tolerant of people's reactions due to their frustration, but I will not tolerate having my words distorted. casibecker please re-read and follow the forum participation guidelines, which require users to be courteous and respectful of other forum members and staff.

Thank you

Re: LONG STORY: Norton BSOD me when I use Truecrypt

Folks I think Liliana is  telling us all she can according to Norton policy, and that she is working, in some ways, on our side here.    She is the Messenger, not the problem, and she must keep to very strict  Symantec/Norton policies as that what's she is hired to do.  I'm sure she is frustrated knowing the BSOD code has not been fixed yet herself...  not nearly as  frustrated  as we who actually purchased Norton Security and expected it to work are...  Liliana has provided the only work-around me have, returning to NIS 2014, which I am thankful for.

So in dealing with her, take a step back and a deep breath, and make sure what we may have though was said, is actually the exact case, and verify it first.   Since she is the only Norton employee responding to us, she can be an easy target for our frustrations.  We all who actually have the Virtual Drive  problem ourselves are frustrated beyond words, but again Liliana is the messenger not the problem.  Get angry at Norton management, the PM in charge of NS coding and repair, the head of Customer Service, the quality of coding and testing, and so on. Get angry at the Company. Make sure this thread and such stays active and won't go away until a repair to some very evil destructive coding within Norton Security is made, and someone in Management explains to us (and everyone else) how the hell it takes nearly 4 months now to repair Norton-caused computer crashes... and why, with this level of Company  concern for Customers and computer crashes caused by Norton code, anyone would want to buy and use Norton in the future.

regards to all
