turn off Norton notifications

Now that I have notifications that Norton Safe Web will run in the background after closing Google Chrome, and I'm getting pop-up "service notifications" to upgrade ("at a discount"), I'd like a way to turn off this security-suite-turned-adware feature - can I do this without canceling my subscription completely?

Um, does this help:

Chrome > Settings > Advanced > System

View or change Norton device security Administrative Settings

In the Settings window, click Administrative Settings, then view or change the default settings:

Special Offer Notification: When On, Norton will let you know about promotions, discounts, or special deals.
