My Norton VPN just completely reset

I was working on my Android tablet browsing various sites when all of a sudden I could no longer communicate with anything. Going to the VPN it seems like it was still up, but it just didn't connect with anything. I checked the router to make sure that it was up and it was, so I disconnected the VPN and try to reconnect and that's when it basically acted like nothing would happen. This time I shut down the VPN on and restarted it and it was acting like a new install asking me to create a new account or to sign in. But when I try to sign into my Norton account I get a server error. I am writing this unprotected by the VPN because I can't get it restarted. This makes me wonder if my account has been compromised. Does anyone know what could cause a reset like this?

Re: My Norton VPN just completely reset

Your security is only reduced if you are using a free, unsecured public wifi hotspot.

Are you using the standalone VPN app or the VPN feature in Norton 360 Android?

There can be many reasons for a network connection to drop out, including when your router renews your IP lease. The Android standalone version of the VPN has a 'kill switch' that stops all network activity if the VPN server cannot be reached for any reason.

As for having to sign into your Norton Account again, there could have been an update to the app, that requires you to sign in again as if a new install. The app can also occasionally require signing in again for security reasons.

A follow up: it finally reconnected oh, but I am still wondering what caused the disconnect and whether or not my security is somehow compromised.

Your security is not likely comprised. If it happens again post again with more info and screenshots.
