Use Norton IOS VPN for devices such as Xbox/Smart TV

Hi,

I have a question which I hope the community can help with.

I would like to run my smart TV and/or Xbox through a VPN.  I have Norton VPN on my phone.  Can I hotspot the TV and Xbox to my phone and use its data connection for internet usage, and it would go through the VPN?

Firstly, would that work?

Secondly, is there a better solution?

Theoretically that could work. But I doubt you would get a fast enough connection to the TV or XBox.

Thanks for the reply. Out of interest why do you think I wouldn’t get a fast enough connection? Speed check on my phone has about 40mps connection. Do you lose a lot of that through the vpn and connecting to Xbox? FYI - it’s not for gaming but to watch tv content on the Xbox.

Are you getting 40Mbps on the phone with the VPN enabled? The speed you need depends on what you will be watching on the TV and Xbox, and what resolution you are using. HD streams may or may not stream OK at that speed.

Why do you feel you need a VPN for this? You may find that the streaming services you want to use will block access to known VPNs for copyright, legal, or political reasons.
