Horrible Outcome After Installing Norton AntiTrack

A few days after installing Norton AntiTrack on my primary computer, ALL Internet Connections from my primary computer were very very slow, and some sites would not grant me access at all.  My secondary computer, on which I did NOT install AntiTrack, continued to work smoothly as in the past.  I did not known what was causing the slow connections, so I tried a large number of problem-solving-possibilities (Reboot Routers and Modem, run Online Repair of MS Office 365, contacted Flashrouter for possible help with my Linksys  Router flashed to work with ExpressVu VPN Services, and many others.)  Spent a full day trying to figure this out.  A few moments ago I decided to UNINSTALL the Norton AntiTrack Program/App to see what might happen.  IMMEDIATELY all problems disappeared.   Four questions:  (1) Have others experienced this same issue?  (2) Is there anyway around this issue, such that I could continue to use AntiTrack [it blocked about 200 tracking events and quite a few fingerprint events in the last few days ... so AntiTrack seems to perform a useful function ... or does it?] (3) What is there about AntiTrack that led to my problems  (4)  How do I directly advise Norton of this issue?  [I have used Norton 360 for many years and have no complaints about that product.]   Thank you for any responses you can offer to one or more of these  four questions.

Re: Horrible Outcome After Installing Norton AntiTrack

Similar issues.  Installed Norton Anti-Track.. seemed to work fine until I closed the browser.  After that I was no longer able to open my browser software again.  Other software, slowed to a crawl.

Finally, I killed the Norton Anti-Track and I could immediately open my browser and my other system software operated normally.

I gave it about a week and updated all the Norton system software hoping it would be resolved.  I once again started the Norton Anti-Track software and had the same results.  Once the initial browser had been closed.... EVERYTHING was locked.  I need to see how to proceed with a refund.  This is honestly the WORST bit of software I've ever had.

Respectfully,

Re: Horrible Outcome After Installing Norton AntiTrack

I have had all the issues described above after installing anti-track.  I have 6gb of RAM and anti-track ate 65% of that.  After I uninstalled Anti-track my computer returned to its normal function.  I would love to be able to get a refund for this product.  I have been a very satisfied used of Norton 360 for over 10 years, but now I am not a happy customer.  Unfortunately, I purchased this product on Oct. 9 and spent over 45 days trying to make things work, thinking that my  computer had problems.  My 60 days for a refund has expired.  My advice to anyone looking at an anti-tracker is "don't buy Norton".

Re: Horrible Outcome After Installing Norton AntiTrack

I have had the same experience since installing antitrack. 100% disk usage kills response time. Pc unusable. After 3 days of scanning, defraging, uninstalling AV, etc, etc I uninstalled antitrack and problem solved. Like Norton password manager, backup software and others, antitrack is a load of FLAKEY JUNK. Not only doesn’t it work, but has disastrous consequences for your computer.

Re: Horrible Outcome After Installing Norton AntiTrack

I had a bad experience with Antitrack also.  I believe the software should be named 'Anticomputer'.  My internet connections started having problems.  I could not make connections to sites, could not type anything into a browser window, until finally I could not connect to ANYTHING.  I then had other programs start to get flakey and not work.  I concluded that the only thing recent that I had done was install the Antitrack software.  I went to remove it--NOT!!  It would not remove, but then other software just flat out stopped working.  I even tried using a restore point, but could not, as it would not run.  I luckily had one item in my pocket.  I had done an image backup four days before this install.  I did an image recovery of my system and kept on trucking.  I have now decided that in the future, before I put ANY new software on my system, I will save an image backup.  As for Antitrack, it will never see my system again, and I absolutely will not recommend it.

I forgot to add an important item. Norton needs to remove AntiTrack from the market. If they keep marketing this item, after the recent commentary about this product, they are demonstrating a total lack of care regarding product quality and the user community.

Re: Horrible Outcome After Installing Norton AntiTrack

I had the same problem.  The computer slowed down so much, all activity took 100 times or more longer - no exaggeration.  A procedure that took a second or less before, took over five plus minutes to run; Not one of them, ALL of them.  The computer barely booted up.

When I was working with customer support about this, they asked me to install "LogMeIn123" to take over my computer to diagnose the problem.  I reluctantly did but even that would not work because the computer was running so slow it would not connect to the representative (assumed it timed out).

I know he sold the company but, I wonder what Peter Norton (once one of the most trusted in PC computing) thinks of them tarnishing his good name.
