How to stop Norton scanning on install

I have a lot of crypto mining software on my PC which I know is safe but as soon as I install Norton, it wipes out a lot of software on my computer. Some stuff can't be recovered from Quarantine either. It also firewall blocks mining software even if I tell it that it's safe.

I have to system restore my computer to get it back to how it was but that doesn't always work so I'm scared to install Norton again.

But I have paid for it so want to give it another go.

How can I stop it from scanning my stuff before I get a change to add all exclusions?

And how do I force the firewall to stop blocking my mining? (other than the normal way)

Re: How to stop Norton scanning on install

OK so nobody had an answer so I had to work it out myself.

If anyone else is having problems with Norton blocking their crypto mining software, they should follow these steps:

As soon as it installs, turn it off.
Go to
Settings > antivirus > automatic protection tab > real time protection > auto protect off
Apply
Scans and risks tab> exclusions/low risks > items to exclude from scans > configure > select any backup drives/any folders with mining software inside
Scans and risks tab> exclusions/low risks > items to exclude from auto-protect etc > configure > select any backup drives/any folders with mining software inside

Turn on AV

Run mining software.
Should get a load of blocked messages.

Settings > firewall > program control tab > allow the blocked mining software
Intrusion and browser protection tab > intrusion signatures > configure > in search box, type “coinminer” > go > untick all boxes > apply

Settings > firewall > intrusion and browser protection tab > intrusion autoblock > configure > computers currently blocked by autoblock – unblock the IP addresses
