General question and comment

Recently I was given a norton site to forward any spam,ect I receive to. Then just yesterday I got an email FROM NORTON to keep a lookout for email from fake norton sites. I am really starting to doubt how good norton actually is. I purchased norton to cut down or stop spam and malicious emails/sites but I seem to be receiving the same amount as before I bought (protection). Now norton is asking ME to keep an eye out for fake norton emails that never should even get as far as my inbox. Just making a general statement

Need to add one something to my previous statement. Just saw that norton charges $99 for virus removal. Why should I even have to worry about getting a virus when I have (protection) let alone be charged to remove something that i should have never got? As stated in my previous post why is norton counting on my UNTRAINED eye to spot spam/malicious email. Should they not be stopped or I at least be alerted before they make it to my inbox? The same with viruses since I am (protected) right? Just asking what I see as logical questions.

Nothing can stop spam/scams from being sent to your email inbox. All you can do is filter out the obvious spam using a spam filter. Norton's Anti Spam feature can help you with that. And FYI. It is not just fake Norton emails, but also McAfee and Microsoft and probably some other large corporations that have their names attached to scammer's emails.  You can check the email sender against this information. Is this email from Norton legitimate?

The Norton Safe Web browser extension will intercept malicious web pages before they are opened in the browser.
