Network Dicovering

Hi

I would like a little help on this problem at I have been fumbling for a while.

I recently migrated from Windows 10 to Windows 11 everything works pretty much normally except network discovery.

When I start the network mgr no device is present.

All network discovery services are started automatically in SERVICE .MGR. Then network discoveries and printer sharing are only open  for  Private (not  Public). Windows diagnostics suggest a Firewall problem, Obviously Norton prevents the Network discovey option and  I do not see any option about this service  in Norton.

I don't have hands on the Microsoft Firewall to do tests because Norton is active.   Even when you disable Norton for a given time the Microsoft firewall is inaccessible.

Re: Network Dicovering

Hello ARTL. If Norton is blocking ND there should be entries in your Norton history under Firewall showing it. Have you reviewed your Norton history?

Please read the article at the link below for more information on enabling ND on Windows 11:

Re: Network Dicovering

Hi  Tks  for  your support.

I have already gone beyond all these basic configuration steps for network discovery, however there is one point that I had not checked ( the history of the firewall) . Indeed the file sharing settings are blocked by default, but I think that the basic problem is related to a rule in the Norton firewall but unfortunately I do not find this rule. As I did not tick too much the Norton Firewall I do not want to change sonething.

Re: Network Dicovering

FYI, here is how to post screenshots into your comment replies vice attaching a pdf.

In Norton open the main UI and open Settings. Next, open Firewall and the General Settings tab. In Public Network Settings click "configure" in blue just to the right. The new window should be Public Network Settings. Tick the box labeled Network Discovery. Norton blocks all the listed services in that list by default, changing it should correct the issue. Click apply, then ok and restart the machine. Recheck for the issue still being present.
